Position Overview:

Your role will be to bring your passion for building the Jewish community to help create opportunities that engage the broader Nevada Jewish community and organizations in Jewish Nevada’s work. This will be done through our several community impact programs including Hebrew Free Loan, Right Start Preschool Voucher, Scholarships, and more. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, enthusiasm, organization, and initiative to shape and grow dynamic programs that already have a proven business model.

What You Will Own:

Federation’s Community Impact department is responsible for managing and implementing grant initiatives; developing and maintaining institutional partnerships and relationships; tracking, measuring, and evaluating grant outcomes and impact; Israel & Overseas related planning and programs, and working in partnership with volunteer leadership. The Community Impact Manager, in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer, will develop and implement initiatives, strategies, and programs that maximize the Federation’s efforts to generate measurable impact on the community level and increase the visibility of the organization.

The position requires the ability to organize, prioritize and delegate responsibilities, motivate lay leadership and professional staff, manage and further institutional relationships, and lead the completion of multiple and varied projects and programs in a timely manner. The main community impact initiatives that the Manager will focus on are:

  • Hebrew Free Loan—Jewish Nevada’s Hebrew Free Loan (HFL) program was launched in 2019 to aid and empower members of the Nevada Jewish community to help themselves by providing interest-free loans and achieving financial self-sufficiency. The Manager will work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer, Program Committee, loan applicants, and donors to grow and maintain the program. They are responsible for program management and growth, implementation of planning efforts, developing and implementing marketing initiatives, partnering on fundraising with the JN team, and creating community partnerships.
  • Right Start Preschool Voucher—Created to increase awareness and access to Jewish early childhood programs for our community's families. Jewish Nevada Right Start provides a financial voucher as a one-time incentive for Jewish families enrolling their children in a Jewish infant, toddler, or preschool program for the first time. Marketing the program, working with families and schools on the application process, and related program management.

What You Will Do:

Systems & Program Administrative Support

  • Respond to phone and email inquiries from potential individual and organizational applicants, and loan borrowers, and skillfully manage complicated conversations with potential borrowers and applicants.
  • Shepherd applicants through the grant, scholarship, or loan process (call applicants to follow up on submitted applications; explain the details of related programs and HFL’s loans and the application process; perform credit checks on loan applicants and cosigners; collect required documentation; and steer application (grant, scholarship, loan) through the stages of the process from the initial conversation, application, committee, award, and report.
  • Prepare written information to be reviewed by Committees, including writing summaries and background information about applicants.
  • Communicate loan disbursement information to Chief Strategy Officer and JN Finance team.
  • Manage loan repayments, including setting up ACH, assisting borrowers with repayment schedule adjustments, following up on delinquencies and defaults, and maintaining accurate, up-to-date, detailed repayment records in the HFL dashboard.
  • Coordinate with Finance Department to mail loan statements, process loan payments, vendor payments, and other related check requests.
  • Periodic policy review as it relates to program functions.
  • Check requests and related tracking for all scholarships, grants, and loans, event payments, and invoices. Credit card reimbursement forms for the department.
  • Assist with grant contract and loan agreement forms.
  • Process and track mission registration, payment status, and billing.
  • Related mission administrative support.

Committee Management

· Schedule committee and sub-committee meetings, related zoom bookings, and more.

· Take minutes at the main committee meeting.

· Meet regularly with the committee and subcommittees.

· Partner with assigned sub-committees, with input from the staff, to set annual goals and strategies that advance the program’s mission.

· Work with leadership to develop the Hebrew Free Loan program operations.

· Identify, recruit, and develop volunteers to assure efficient and cost-effective operations.

· Communicate with committee members regularly about meetings, program-related updates, and next steps.

Communications & Development

· Work with staff, lay leaders, donors, and vendors to plan, implement, and staff HFL and Federation events.

· Assist the committee and JN with initiatives to broaden and improve HFL cultivation and stewardship activities.

· Create/develop/maintain marketing collateral and communication tools related to HFL, Israel mission and programs, OHC, Right Start, grant and scholarship processes, and other JN programs.

· Draft and proofread marketing, related fundraising collateral, emails, reports, and more.

· Grow to manage a small portfolio of HFL donors.

· In conjunction with lay leadership and the JN team, develop, and coordinate communication vehicles (newsletters, webinars, speeches and presentations, blog posts, and social media postings) to keep internal and external stakeholders informed about Federation initiatives.

· Support the production and development of the annual community report.

· Schedule and plan mission info sessions and related follow-up.

General Jewish Nevada

· Attend meetings and events as required. Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends.

· The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with all constituencies is essential. Provide support to other Federation programs as needed.

· Ongoing donor cultivation and stewardship and creatively communicating with stakeholders in ways that build their enthusiasm for the Federation’s collective work.
