Position Overview

Jewish Nevada, Nevada’s statewide Jewish Federation, is seeking a Program Coordinator, Outreach & Engagement – Northern Nevada to play a pivotal role in expanding Jewish communal involvement. This position focuses on two key areas: Community Circles and Family Engagement, fostering relationships and creating vibrant opportunities for individuals and families to connect with Jewish life.

In this role, you will build and empower volunteer councils, collaborate with community partners, and design meaningful, inclusive, and engaging programs that inspire participation and leadership.


What You’ll Do

  • Create welcoming and enriching Jewish experiences for individuals, families, and communities in Northern Nevada.
  • Recruit, engage, and support volunteers and community members in planning and executing outreach and engagement initiatives.
  • Expand Jewish Nevada’s presence by identifying new opportunities for connection and community-building.

Key Responsibilities

Community Circles (Volunteer Programing & Leadership Development)

  • Identify, recruit, and track new and existing members in the Northern Nevada Jewish community.
  • Work with lay leaders and volunteers to plan and execute Community Circle events that focus on networking, leadership, education, social connections, and volunteerism.
  • Develop future leaders by facilitating volunteer and leadership roles within Jewish Nevada, partner agencies, and synagogues.
  • Support fundraising efforts: Identify prospects, assist with solicitation planning, and engage volunteer fundraisers.
  • Enhance visibility: Partner with the Federation’s marketing team to develop an online and social media strategy, create content, and promote engagement opportunities.
  • Position Community Circles as the premier resource for Jewish engagement in Northern Nevada.

Family Engagement

  • Oversee and grow family-focused programs including:
    • PJ Library & PJ Our Way (Jewish literacy & storytelling initiatives)
    • Shalom Baby (support network for new parents & infants)
    • Jewish playgroups & parent-child experiences
    • Cub Scouts & other youth/family programming
  • Partner with synagogues, Jewish schools, and community organizations to co-create meaningful programs and outreach initiatives.

Community-Wide Engagement & Special Events

  • Collaborate with the Director, Community Engagement (Northern Nevada) and Director, Jewish Student Life – Hillel of Northern Nevada on local Jewish events and fundraising.
  • Assist in planning and executing major Jewish Nevada events, including:
    • Campaign Call-a-thons
    • Milk & Honey Service Initiative
    • Jewish Heritage @ the Ballpark
    • Jewish Film Festival
    • Additional programs that support engagement, fundraising, and community connections.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Jewish Nevada, representing the organization at community meetings and gatherings.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Jewish communal work, experiential education, or nonprofit programming.
  • Passion for building Jewish community and fostering meaningful connections.
  • Strong skills in event planning, volunteer engagement, and relationship-building
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and with attention to detail.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and social media tools.
  • Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Enthusiasm for growing with the role and expanding its impact.



Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to $25,000 per year (based on 20-25 hours per week).
