Position Summary
Jewish Funders Network seeks a dynamic, relationship-driven leader to serve as Director, Philanthropic Engagement – New York and Northeast. Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropic Engagement, this role is designed for a mid-career professional with demonstrated success in membership engagement, donor stewardship, or philanthropic relationship management.
The Director will lead engagement efforts across one of JFN's most robust and strategic regions, serving as primary relationship manager for a significant portfolio of members and prospective members. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building trusted relationships and blends high-touch engagement with regional strategy, event leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Member & Donor Engagement

Serve as a senior relationship manager and trusted partner to a portfolio of members, delivering proactive, personalized stewardship.

Conduct regular in-person and virtual meetings to understand members’ philanthropic priorities, identify opportunities for deeper engagement, and strengthen long-term retention.

Translate member insights into actionable strategies that enhance overall network value and impact.

Identify and cultivate prospective members, partnering with leadership and board members to drive regional recruitment.
Regional Strategy & Event Leadership

Design and execute high-quality regional gatherings — salons, briefings, small-group convenings, and thought-leadership events — that deepen connection and advance JFN's mission.

Represent JFN externally within the philanthropic and Jewish communal landscape of the Northeast.
Cross-Organizational Collaboration

Work closely with colleagues across departments to ensure member needs and regional trends inform institutional strategy.

Maintain accurate and strategic use of CRM data to guide engagement, track touchpoints, and support data-informed decision-making.

Contribute to organization-wide initiatives, convenings, and strategic growth efforts.
Travel Expectations

Regional travel throughout New York City, the tristate area, and Northeast corridor approximately every 4–6 weeks.

Occasional travel for national gatherings and team convenings.
Qualifications

Several years of progressively responsible experience in donor relations, membership engagement, philanthropic advising, fundraising, or customer success

Demonstrated success managing and growing a portfolio of members, donors, or clients

Experience planning and hosting high-quality in-person engagement events

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility across diverse stakeholders

Strategic thinker who can translate relationship insights into engagement plans

Entrepreneurial mindset; adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Strong organizational and project management skills; proficiency with CRM systems and digital collaboration tools

Experience in the Jewish communal or philanthropic sector is strongly preferred

Ability to work both independently and on a team.
Compensation & Location
JFN offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $120,000–$140,000, commensurate with experience. Applicants must be based in New York City. This role operates from JFN’s headquarters Monday–Thursday, with remote work on Fridays.
