Regional Security Manager – Ottawa
Location: Ottawa (In Office Role)
Job Overview: The Jewish Security Network is seeking a proactive and dedicated Regional Security Manager to lead, develop, and manage the community’s comprehensive security program. This role involves safeguarding the safety and well-being of the community, its staff, volunteers, and facilities, ensuring a secure environment for all who participate in community events and programs. The Regional Manager will be responsible for assessing risks, implementing security protocols, and leading emergency response efforts, while fostering strong relationships with local law enforcement and security agencies.
Duties (Include, but are not limited to):
• Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to address emerging threats.
• Collaborate with community leaders, and stakeholders to advance community security.
• Support Federation in fundraising efforts for security initiatives.
• Build working relationships with other security organizations on the national and international level.
• Cultivate strong relationships with Jewish communal organizations to promote collaboration.
• Provide leadership and strategic oversight for security operations at community events, including guidance on risk mitigation and preparedness.
• Serve as a liaison between the security program and local law enforcement agencies, government officials, and security professionals to coordinate security efforts and response protocols.
• Organize community outreach events, training sessions, and educational programs to empower community members to play an active role in safeguarding their institutions and neighborhoods.
• Recruit, train and maintain security volunteers.
• Conduct robust security assessments of community institutions and manage the implementation of recommendations.
• Develop emergency protocols for community institutions and conduct emergency drills on a regular basis.
• Develop and provide training on security awareness to various community groups in the Jewish community.
Requirements:
Must haves:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Experience conducting TVRAs.
• 5+ years of senior-level security experience
• Familiarity with the rhythm of Jewish community institutions
• Experience with project management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong leadership, multitasking, and team management skills
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to problem-solve, think strategically and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities; proven success leading strategic initiatives
• A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
Nice to have:
• Security certification (CPP)
• Track record of successfully working with staff and stakeholders to deliver complex security projects on time and within budget
• Proven ability to build and lead teams including experience with recruiting, developing talent and managing a large security volunteer network
• Experience in sourcing, installing and maintaining best in class security infrastructure
• Valid security worker’s license
• Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector
• Knowledge of Ottawa’s Jewish community
Salary Range: 110,000-130,000 CAD
