Jewish Federation of Orange County (JFedOC) seeks a seasoned development professional to support organizational growth through fundraising approaches that fuel the organization’s mission and vision. The Development Officer is a key senior leader who will advance the Federation’s strategic priorities and mission by maximizing community participation in philanthropy.

This individual is responsible for comprehensive fundraising and philanthropic engagement strategies including the cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of existing and prospective major donors to the Federation. The ideal candidate for this role is driven to strengthen current practices and embrace new approaches to securing financial resources. Once here, you will:

  • Grow all aspects of the Federation’s diverse portfolio of funding streams.
  • Strategize and implement comprehensive fundraising plans inclusive of direct mailings, face-to-face solicitations, and event-based giving opportunities.
  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit a portfolio of prospective and current major individual and foundation donors ($25,000+) for annual support, endowment, planned gifts, and all other relevant streams.
  • Recruit new lay leaders and empower all lay leaders to feel a high degree of ownership, involvement, and responsibility in advancing our mission through philanthropic activities, and staff the Campaign Committee of the Federation Board.
  • Oversee and execute fundraising, stewardship, and engagement events that place philanthropy at the center of community-building.
  • Create and manage program budgets to control expenses and generate revenues.
  • Lead and supervise a team of high-performing fundraisers including both direct and indirect reports.

Your experience and mindset:

  • You thrive on creating and implementing effective fundraising strategies while building meaningful relationships with donors and evidence ability to intuitively match donors’ philanthropic passions and vision with the mission of Jewish Federation.
  • You possess significant knowledge of the Jewish community.
  • You have demonstrated experience with solicitation and stewardship of major ($25,000+) donors; foundation grant solicitations, proposals, and reporting that has led to sustainable funder relationships; and in the successful execution of complex, multiple projects to meet fundraising and engagement goals.
  • You have a track record of work excellence that has been developed over the last 5+ years and display meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in building trusted, collaborative, and strong relationships with lay leaders, donors, and staff that you have supervised.  You have experience leading high-level impact communication strategies and effective marketing campaigns.
  • You exhibit strong administrative and management skills in staff management, partnership cultivation, budgetary oversight, data gathering/analysis, and stakeholder communications.
  • You are laser-focused and work at a fast pace to solve problems and meet critical deadlines.
  • You have a strong work ethic, including the ability to work efficiently under pressure, demonstrate strategic thinking and good decision-making, and maintain and model high personal, ethical, and professional standards.
  • You believe in the mission and vision of JFedOC to amplify Jewish life and sustain our Jewish future.
