Job Description:
The Jewish Federation of British Columbia is seeking an Associate Director of Development, Campaign – Donor Engagement & Campaign Operations to play a central leadership role in advancing the success and growth of its Annual Campaign. As the organization continues to expand its philanthropic reach and deepen community impact across the province, this position is instrumental in shaping and executing fundraising strategy, strengthening donor engagement, and building a sustainable pipeline of support.
Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Development, Campaign - Donor Engagement & Campaign Operations is a relationship builder who works with donors and lay leaders volunteers to advance Federation’s mission and vision through the work of Financial Resource Development (FRD). This role is central to identifying, cultivating, and engaging new donors, expanding our base of support while deepening relationships with existing contributors. The Associate Director partners with volunteer leaders to craft and implement meaningful engagement opportunities that connect individuals and organizations more deeply to our work, strengthening long-term philanthropic commitment and helping grow total dollars raised to support the Jewish Community of BC.
This role leads community-level fundraising efforts, including donors under $10,000, regional communities, the Young Adult Division, and corporate partnerships.
The position ensures a seamless and meaningful donor experience while overseeing campaign operations, volunteer engagement, and community outreach to grow participation, strengthen relationships, and build a sustainable pipeline for future giving.
This role provides the unique opportunity to shape the philanthropic landscape of the Jewish community in BC, driving initiatives that directly support programs, services, and community growth.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
Campaign Strategy & Execution:
• Participate in the development and implement the annual fundraising campaign strategy in alignment with Federation priorities and goals.
• Responsible for co-creating annual budget.
• Set, establish, monitor and report campaign performance metrics, including dollar targets, donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade goals.
• Collaborate Chief Development Officer (CDO), marketing, Finance, FRD, CRM database team members, communications, and program teams to ensure cohesive messaging across all donor touchpoints.
• Identify, manage and report new revenue opportunities and innovative approaches to expand donor engagement and corporate partnerships.
• Leverage data and audience segmentation models to target giving opportunities effectively.
• Coordinating directly with lead staff for all major campaign events and activities
Resource Development:
• Serve as a relationship manager to deepen and strengthen connection with donors and prospects. Personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects, securing gifts through face-to-face solicitations as part of a $10.1M+ 2026/2027 annual fundraising campaign.
• Development of moves management donor pipeline with clear targets and metrics for growing women’s giving circles at the $1,800+ level (Pomegranate Circle) and stepping up to Lions of Judah ($5,000+).
• Utilize considerable initiative, independence, originality, and responsibility for developing new methods and techniques for relationship building.
• Ensure consistent onboarding/welcoming of new Pomegranates and Lions with the help of our giving society chairs.
• Working with the Foundation’s team, help create and develop a portfolio of prospects for endowment and legacy gifts (e.g., Endowed Lions of Judah - LOJE).
• Onboards and supports lay leaders by developing strategies for committees, meetings, and events, and developing appropriate written materials including annotated agendas and operational plans (timelines for projects, solicitor recruitment plans).
• In consultation CDO, assists in creating a pipeline for lay leadership.
Regional Community Development:
• Responsible for growing the annual campaign to achieve ambitious dollar targets while expanding the donor base from within BC
• Partner with our Regional community connectors on philanthropic education, stewardship and engagement
• Lead strategies to acquire, retain and grow donors contributing under $10,000
• Strengthen a culture of philanthropy by increasing participation across diverse community segments throughout BC
Young Adult Division:
• Manage and own ATID programming, Moments with a Mentor initiative
• Lead engagement strategies for young professionals and next-generation donors.
• Develop programming and experiences that foster long-term connection, leadership, and giving.
• Build a pipeline from engagement to philanthropy, including first-time donors and future divisional and major gift prospects.
Corporate Partnerships:
• Oversee manager’s efforts in developing and managing relationships with corporate partners to secure sponsorships and philanthropic contributions.
• Help develop quality proposals and partnership packages
• Identify new partnership opportunities aligned with Federation priorities and community impact.
• Steward corporate partners to ensure ongoing engagement and long-term support.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
• Manage, provide guidance and mentor campaign staff including Manager, Corporate Partnerships
• Create Corporate Partnership solicitation materials in collaboration with Manager, Corporate Partnerships & Marketing.
• Inspires team to support and achieve goals, provides mentorship and fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment helping team members to achieve individual growth and goals while conducting the 6-month PMC reviews in a timely and constructive, motivating manner to include setting KPIs.
• Collaborate with marketing, events and programmatic teams to algin fundraising efforts with The Federation’s priorities, creating compelling donor-centric communications and events.
• Collaborate with FRD teams to manage performance reports, reporting of campaign revenue, other
• Collaborating with Manager, Corporate Sponsorships – ensure sponsorship deliverables are accurately invoiced, communicated and recognized.
Operations, Reporting & Evaluation:
• Provide operational support including gift processing, acknowledgements, receipting & pledge follow-up
• Provide regular campaign updates and performance reports to senior leadership and the board. Analyze campaign outcomes, donor trends, and market data to refine strategy and improve results.
• Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and donor restrictions, including tracking of restricted funding.
• Ensure CRM Data integrity, segmentation accuracy and donor tracking as the single source of truth.
• Produce campaign reports and analytics to support leadership and board reporting
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in strategic leadership, business development or major gift/corporate fundraising, ideally with measurable impact on revenue growth
• Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships with high -capacity individuals while focusing on new donor acquisition.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising, Jewish community values and philanthropic culture is highly desirable with a commitment to learning and understanding the community is essential
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Deep understanding of Jewish community values, philanthropy, and culture preferred.
