Position: Program Coordinator
Hours: Full-time (including some evenings and weekends)
Salary: 52,000 to 55,000 annually (depending on experience)
Work Arrangement: In-office, with flexibility for program preparation and off-site events
Overview: Reporting to the Associate Rabbi, the Program Coordinator plays a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of Temple Sholom’s community programming. This position focuses on building connections, fostering engagement, and strengthening Jewish life for members across all demographics, from families and youth to young adults and new parents. While the Program Coordinator is not expected to personally lead every initiative, they ensure all programs are strategically planned, well-promoted, and executed with creativity, inclusivity, and logistical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development & Coordination
Design, coordinate, and support Temple Sholom programs that build meaningful Jewish engagement.
Collaborate with clergy and staff to align programming with Temple Sholom’s mission and calendar.
Oversee logistics, communications, materials, volunteer support, and post-program evaluation.
Manage budgets and track expenses related to programming and events.
2. Key Program Areas
Monthly Family Shabbat: Plan and support monthly family-friendly services and dinners.
Shabbat on the Beach: Coordinate summer family events (2x per summer).
East Side Jews: Organize monthly outreach programs for young families and adults in East Vancouver in collaboration with clergy and lay leadership board.
Holiday Family Programming: Plan and execute family programming for Hanukkah, Simchat Torah (with TSRS), Purim, and Passover.
High Holy Day Childminding: Manage RH and YK day programming (9 a.m.–2 p.m.), including staff and logistics.
Grade 8–9 Kallah Program: Coordinate in collaboration with clergy the informal education program for Grade 8 and 9 students:
Kickoff Dinner
Monthly learning session with Clergy
Spring Shabbaton (retreat)
New Parent Programming: Develop opportunities for new families to connect with the Temple community.
3. Communications & Outreach
Promote programs through email, website, and social media.
Work with our communications team to create engaging social media content aligned with Temple Sholom’s brand and tone.
Maintain event listings and updates on the Temple website in collaboration with staff.
4. Administrative Support
Provide administrative assistance to clergy and office staff as required.
Be present in office daily, and specifically on days the admin team requests for backup or support.
Support reception and front-office needs when available.
Maintain accurate program records and participation tracking.
6. Adhoc events:
Board of Directors dinners, meetings and any other Board related events.
Membership cultivation events.
Adult Education events
Adhoc events in support of the Events and Facilities Manager.
Skills and Abilities:
Authorized to work in Canada.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and social media platforms.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Capacity to lift up to 30 lbs (event setup and supplies).
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the program schedule
