Social Events Coordinator

Chabad Richmond is a registered not for profit charity serving both the Jewish and secular communities as a Jewish Learning and Cultural Centre. Our program and activities include education programs for both adults and children, social programs for the entire community and private counselling and emotional support services to all.
The Social Events Coordinator will assist the Senior’s Program Manager with the planning and implementation of our Seniors Summer Program. They will also be tasked with helping with the creation of our annual community calendar.
The Social Events Coordinator will gain experience by:
• Asking for target audience input during planning for the summer series of activities
• Developing a plan with the Seniors Coordinator
• Contracting performers, speakers and activity leaders,
• Securing space, equipment and food supplies for activities
• Promoting the events to target audiences
• Assisting in set-up, execution and take-down of events
• Participating in Seniors Summer Program evaluation
• Help work on the creation of our annual community calendar, including contacting advertisers, creating advertisements, layout and detail-oriented checking of all content.
• Be adaptable and willing to jump in and help with other projects such as our Light of Shabbat meal program.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in (or just completed) a post-secondary education program in business administration, arts, communications, or social work.
• Confident communication skills to establish and enhance both new and existing customer relationships
• Must possess good listening skills, be empathetic and compassionate, and willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done
• Proficient with MS Office 365 Word / Excel, and with social media and presentation software such as Canva, Facebook and Instagram.
• Detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Able to readily set priorities while adapting to the developing changes of the organization
This position will run for 9 weeks, 30 hours per week - $20 per hr.
To be noted this is not a remote position and will require you to work in person at our Richmond BC location.
As this is a Canadian Government Summer Jobs funded position you MUST be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and aged 30 or younger to qualify.
