Position Summary:
Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver is seeking a proactive and dedicated Executive Director of Security to lead, develop, and manage the Federation’s comprehensive security program. This role involves safeguarding the safety and well-being of the community, its staff, volunteers, and facilities, ensuring a secure environment for all who participate in our events and programs. The Security Program Leader will be responsible for assessing risks, implementing security protocols, and leading emergency response efforts, while fostering strong relationships with local law enforcement and security agencies.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Planning:
- Represent the organization and provide visionary leadership to the security program/organization, setting strategic goals and priorities aligned with the organization’s mission.
​- Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to address emerging threats and mitigate risks facing the Jewish community.
- Collaborate with the Security Committee/Board of Directors/Bitachon Committee, community leaders, and stakeholders to advance the organization’s objectives and initiatives.
- Recruit, motivate, develop, retain and supervise paid talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing the health and well-being of the team.
- Support Federation in fundraising efforts for security initiatives.
- Build working relationships with other security organizations at the national and international levels.

Community Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Cultivate strong relationships with Jewish communal organizations, synagogues, summer camps, schools, and other relevant stakeholders to promote collaboration and information sharing all across the province.
- Serve as a liaison between the security program/organization and local law enforcement agencies, government officials, and security professionals to coordinate security efforts and response protocols.
- Organize community outreach events, training sessions, and educational programs to raise awareness about security issues and empower community members to play an active role in safeguarding their institutions and neighborhoods.
- Recruit, train and maintain security volunteers to assist Jewish organizations in securing their premises.

Operational Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the security program/organization, including budgeting, resource allocation, and administrative functions.
- Establish objectives for the security program/organization and create/approve policies and programs that improve the growth of the program.
- Organize the establishment of an intel gathering mechanism for our communities.
- Manage human and financial resource departments to implement organizational policies and programs; establish financial and administrative controls; and approve overall personnel planning.
- Select and manage directors or other executive staff.
- Oversee the development of the risk assessment and crisis management plan to identify security threats and vulnerabilities affecting the Jewish community. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security and emergency preparedness.
- Lead the Community Emergency Preparedness endeavor, and see it to its full completion.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Strong community orientation.
- Security certification preferred.
- 7+ years of senior-level security experience securing global Jewish communities and institutions.
- Experience being the senior leader of an organization including budgeting, legal issues and governance.
- Proven ability to build and lead teams including experience with recruiting, developing talent and managing a large security volunteer network.
- Familiarity with the rhythm of Jewish community institutions including synagogues, JCCs, day and overnight summer camps, Jewish day schools and yeshivot.
- Experience in sourcing, installing and maintaining best-in-class security infrastructure, including a Security
- Operations Centre and Security Infrastructure for Jewish community institutions.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities; proven success leading strategic initiatives.
- A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill and experience to manage complex change from start to finish.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with budget management.
- Track record of successfully working with staff and stakeholders to deliver complex security projects on time and within budget.
- Ability to problem-solve, think strategically and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Strong leadership, multitasking, and team management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Must apply judgment and discretion in the handling of sensitive and confidential documentation.
- Experience conducting TVRAs.
- Valid BC security worker’s license to include security consultant designation – a plus.
- Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector.
- Knowledge of BC’s Jewish communities.

Details and How to Apply:
- Salary range: $130,000-$160,000
- Schedule: Full-time, based on a 35-hour work week with willingness to work off hours as much as needed, and be available for emergency handling 24/7.
