Summary:
The Temporary Gulf Coast Consortia Program Administrator will be responsible for providing programmatic, administrative, financial, and operational support for several GCC research and training groups and initiatives to meet organizational objectives, including the administrative management of multi-institutional programs and related events and activities. The ideal candidate can communicate effectively with faculty, students and others, both internally and externally, and works well in a team environment. The Gulf Coast Consortia (GCC) is a collaborative, eight-member academic organization, located at Rice, focused on building interdisciplinary and multi-institutional partnerships and expanding training and research opportunities in the quantitative biomedical sciences.
The ideal candidate is a capable, people-oriented, detail-oriented person, with a track record of excellent customer service in an academic environment. He or she will have experience in organizing and implementing conferences, workshops and other events and in assisting with program administration and proposal development.
Term: This is a temporary full-time benefits-eligible position with an appointment for 6 months.
Workplace Requirements:
This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Typically, this is 3-4 days/week in the office. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change. The office for this position is located in the BioScience Research Collaborative, 6500 Main Street, Houston.
Annual Hiring Range: $52,000 to 54,000. *Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted.
- 1year of related experience
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted.
- Skills:

Preferences:
- Familiar with academic, biomedical research institutions in the Texas Medical Center.
- 3+ years of experience in planning and organizing large events
Essential Functions:
- Assists with the planning, preparation, and implementation of various events and meetings, including communication, vendor, supplier and participant outreach and confirmation; budgeting; and reporting
- Assists with the development of proposals to support multi-institutional programs
- Serves as a GCC representative at GCC events
- Communicates and promotes research and training program events
- Updates webpages as assigned and works as part of a team that determines and/or edits content
- Develops training curriculum and may teach a course, seminar or workshop, including integrating program and curriculum into related programs
- Participates in grant preparation and submission
- Performs other duties as assigned
