About the Business Intelligence & Analytics Lead position:
As the Jewish Federation of Cleveland undergoes a business systems transformation, we seek a Business Intelligence & Analytics Lead to drive change in how data is utilized across our organization.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this hands-on role combines strategic ownership with direct execution, leveraging the enterprise data warehouse and other data sources to develop reports, dashboards, and analytical insights. The position works closely with stakeholders across the organization to translate business questions into reliable data solutions and actionable analysis, ensuring the data is accurate, well-documented, and effectively used to support organization priorities and decision-making.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of the JFC’s data analysis and business intelligence capabilities, with a strong emphasis on hands-on development and delivery.
- Serve as the subject matter expert of our enterprise data warehouse and analytics solution, acting as the primary liaison to our external BI partner.
- Directly leverage the enterprise data warehouse and other data sources to develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs that support decision-making across Finance, Fundraising, Marketing, and other functional areas.
- Perform hands-on data analysis, including exploratory and ad-hoc analysis, to identify trends, patterns, and insights within warehouse data and other internal or external data sources.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization to understand business questions and analytical needs, translating those needs into effective data models, reporting solutions, and analyses.
- Own and evolve enterprise data definitions, documentation, and standards to ensure consistency and usability of data across the organization.
- Own and lead the organization’s data and analytics strategy, from design and implementation through insight generation and decision support.
- Develop and analyze key performance indicators and performance metrics to surface potential new opportunities.
- Perform ad-hoc data analysis on a regular basis, assist in special projects, support recurring reporting requests for leadership and suggest opportunities for data improvements throughout the organization.
- Promote data literacy by providing ongoing staff training and education on our data reporting and data analysis tools and best practices.
- Stay up to date on BI and data visualization best practices and bring forward ideas that can improve our capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information systems or related field of study.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data strategy, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Power BI or similar data visualization tools.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and business intelligence best practices.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel to perform advanced analysis.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead discussions, articulate problems, brainstorm solutions, and drive change in how staff think about data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to translate business requirements into solutions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously while consistently meeting short deadline situations.
- High attention to detail, follow-up, self-motivated, proactive and solution focused.
- Experience working with donor databases, CRM systems, or fundraising data is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in non-profit data analysis a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft SQL Server, a plus.
- Experience writing DAX expressions a plus.
- Experience with statistical programming languages (R, Python, SAS or similar) a plus.
