Position Title: Case Aide

Position Type: Temporary (37.5+ hours/week), Non-Exempt

Work Setting: Fully Onsite

Reports To: Director of Refugee Resettlement

Pay Range: $23 -$23.50/hour

Total Compensation:

In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

Please Note: This position is temporary; you will only receive state minimum of sick time and it does not include vacation or 401K benefits.

Position Overview:

JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Refugee Resettlement team as the Case Aide. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your case management skills and refugee resettlement experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Case Aide plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by serving clients directly and provides ongoing support to Resettlement Case Managers and Lead Case Managers. This position reports directly to the Director of Refugee Resettlement and works closely with the case managers and the rest of the Refugee Resettlement team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management and case manager support to eligible refugee and/or immigrant clients, which will include internal and external referrals to service providers, while tracking and managing client progress towards goals.
  • When needed, provide transportation for clients to and from appointments – including providing orientation for public transportation systems in San Diego County.
  • Assess and coordinate referrals to local service and housing providers, San Diego Health and Human Services, and other partners or services as needed.
  • Assist clients in enrolling in eligible benefits and providing orientation across various subject areas beneficial to the client.
  • Act as an advocate to help clients identify and access necessary services.
  • Act as a representative to help clients communicate with providers.
  • Act as an advisor to help clients understand the necessity and purpose of services they receive.
  • Participate in collaborative and work group meetings related to case management services.
  • Manage data and documentation per program guidelines.
  • Assist staff in creating and maintaining case files for RR programs, with oversight by the Lead Case Managers and Resettlement Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • Must have a valid CA driver's license, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site to conduct meetings with employers and facilitate interviews with clients, providing client transportation.
  • Familiarity with social service systems in San Diego and California for low-income families.
  • Experience in a social services or similar setting providing case management preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations preferred.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting, preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer relationship skills.
  • Fluency in a client target language is strongly desired.

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, or some college, bachelor’s degree desirable.
