Position Title: Director of Talent Acquisition and Onboarding

Organization: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

Department: Human Resources

Position Type: Full-Time (37.5+ hours/week), Exempt

Work Setting: Fully Onsite

Reports To: VP of Human Resources

Pay Range: $100,000- $110,000/year

Total Compensation:

In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

Position Overview:

This role is accountable for shaping and leading full-cycle recruitment, employer branding, and onboarding experience. Will design a recruiting strategy and champion a technology-forward recruiting system. Beyond recruiting, this role supports leaders and employees through the everyday moments that matter solving problems and being innovative with hard-to-fill roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees full-cycle recruiting operations, including candidate sourcing, screening, selection, and offer negotiation.
  • Establishes and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) such as time to fill, cost per hire, and turnover rates to make data-driven decisions and process improvements.
  • Designs and manages a comprehensive onboarding program that ensures new hires have a consistent, engaging, and supportive experience from offer to acceptance through the first 12 months.
  • Builds and maintains a strong employer brand to attract top talent and promote company culture through various channels.
  • Identifies, implements, and maintains ATS, HR technology, and onboarding software.
  • Ensures adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and internal hiring policies.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand what their teams need, build sourcing strategies, assess candidates, and keep the process moving.
  • Designs and implements company-wide recruitment strategies to meet hiring targets.
  • Develops structured interview frameworks and competency models so every hire meets Jewish Family Service’s bar of our values.
  • Works closely with the leadership team to define job descriptions and align workforce planning strategy.

Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

  • 8+ years of hands-on recruiting experience for professional-level roles.
  • 3–5 years of strong leadership experience with a recruiting team.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise in structured interviewing.
  • Experience building recruiting systems and processes from the ground up.
  • Strong operational mindset with experience in optimizing ATS workflows.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Familiarity with a non-profit workforce.
  • Experience owning time-to-fill, quality-of-hire, and retention metrics.
  • Strong Analytical mindset; comfortable owning recruiting dashboards and workforce forecasting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities with urgency.

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

  • HR Certifications in CA and/or talent acquisition/recruitment
  • 10+ years of hands-on recruiting experience for professional-level roles
