Pay Range: $25- $27/hour
Total Compensation:

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Access & Resource Navigation team as Resource Navigator. The Resource Navigator delivers assistance crucial to enhancing and improving a client's standard of living, assist in navigating resource systems, and break down services to manageable goals to establish patterns of success. Working as a part of the Access & Resource Navigation team, the Resource Navigator will strive to provide welcoming, integrated, culturally and linguistically responsive services focused on clients’ strengths as they face economic and housing-related challenges. This position reports to the Resource Navigation Manager and works closely across departments to support the self-sufficiency of individuals and families.
Responsibilities:
- Follow up on assigned referrals and assess each situation and screen for high-risk situations
- Carry a caseload of individuals and families for follow up (estimated 40 households)
- Provide comprehensive assessments for individuals and families, identifying areas of need and helping clients set goals
- Help clients identify goals related to financial stability, increasing income, increasing savings, employment, and housing stability. Document progress at regular intervals
- Ensure clients access public benefit programs for which they are eligible
- Provide appropriate external referrals and document progress at regular intervals
- Work closely with other case managers and service providers to coordinate care for shared clients
- Assist with educational workshops and events (as needed)
- Maintain documentation of client interactions in software system with integrity and in line with the quality standard set by supervisor
- Other duties assigned by supervisor
Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree (in a human services field – social work, gerontology, psychology, etc.)
- Minimum of one year of experience in a case management/resource coordination role
- Understanding of the low-income population and the concept of trauma informed care
- Desire to work with clients across the lifespan
- Experience setting limits when working with stressed clients, often in some level of urgency
- Ability to show an unconditional positive regard for clients who turn to JFS for support
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Must have a valid CA driver's license, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Master’s Degree in the human service field (e.g. MSW)
- Preferred previous training in Motivational Interviewing and Financial Literacy
- Detailed-oriented and conscientious documentation due to contract standards
- Prior experience in the non-profit sector
- Experience working with individuals and families facing economic challenges
Physical Requirements:
- Complete phone calls at desk, lasting from 5-30 minutes
- Be available for in-person appointments
- Enter documentation on the computer
- Utilize technology for meetings, phone calls, and data documentation
- Meet and greet clients on the campus and secure private settings to hold conversations
- Travel to other JFS worksites when assigned
