Pay Range: $115,000-$120,000/year

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Center for Jewish Care team as the Executive Director. Note: this position will be titled externally as Executive Director of Center for Jewish Care and internally is at the Senior Director Level. Jewish Family Service of San Diego’s (JFSSD) Center for Jewish Care (CJC) is a welcoming and caring space with dedicated staff, designed to help the Jewish community access critical services while also a home to practice Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World). The CJC is JFSSD’s commitment to living our Jewish Values by remaining focused on our responsibility to the Jewish Community, while also serving the greater community.
In this role, you will use your cultural competency, external relations, and cross functional collaboration skills along with non-profit program operating experience to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego and Orange Counties. The Executive Director of the Center for Jewish Care plays an integral role on the Program and Development teams and supports the entire agency by reaffirming our Jewish values, implementing programming, and ensuring strong community engagement. This position reports directly to the Chief Program and Impact Officer and works closely with the Development Division, that includes Community and Volunteer Engagement and Marketing and Communications Departments and has close working relationships with the Vice President of Government Affairs and JFSSD’s CEO and CEO Designate.
Responsibilities:
- Drive program strategy through the refinement, maintenance, and innovation of current program offerings with a focus on aligning with the JFS Theory of Change and responding to factors in domains such as economy, housing, political, and environmental.
- Oversee the Center for Jewish Care’s team by providing strategic leadership and day-to-day support.
- Create and maintain a multi-million dollar budget in partnership with direct reports and other departments. Provide financial and contractual management of programs and ensure that contract requirements are met and exceeded.
- Leading and empowering Center for Jewish Care leadership, as defined as director, managers and supervisors, to develop and execute goals, in the areas of impact and operations.
- Oversees programs in the areas that support those in need, including Holocaust Survivors, those facing economic insecurity, and others, with an emphasis on concepts such as trauma informed care and goal-oriented case management. Another program area is the Jewish Community Emergency Response Team.
- Oversee our Rabbi who works on community engagement activities and informs Jewish learning at JFSSD.
- Shared oversight and execution of external relationships, with the CEO, CEO Designate, Chief Advancement Officer, Chief Program and Impact Officer, and Vice President of Government Relations.
- Accompany CEO, CEO Designate, and development staff in fundraising efforts.
Skills/Experience/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- A genuine passion to be an ambassador and implementor of JFSSD’s commitment to the Center for Jewish Care.
- A minimum of 5 years’ of leadership experience managing and administering programs in the non-profit/human/social services sector.
- Exceptional strategic, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
- High level of emotional intelligence, with superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Greatly motivated to positively impact findings from the Jewish Community Study.
- Fluency in English, bilingual (Russian, Hebrew or other languages) preferred, and core experience in working/engaging with communities from multiple nations/cultures/ethnic groups.
- Solution orientation, positive attitude, and collaborative behaviors.
- Creative, innovative thinker who embraces new ways of approaching planning, challenges, and opportunities; willing to challenge the status quo; adaptable and flexible in thinking and execution.
- Experience managing government and private philanthropic contracts.
- Master’s degree in human services/social work or equivalent preferred, bachelor’s degree required.
- Must have a valid CA driver's license, a clean driving record, insurance, a reliable personal vehicle, and a willingness to travel off-site.
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Experience working cross functionally within an organization.
- Technologically savvy, highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with budgeting and accounting software.
- Must pass pre-employment background check(s).
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires periodic driving to events and meetings outside of the office or to visit program efforts in Orange County.
