Pay Rate: $16.85-$19.23/hour
Total Compensation:
In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

Position Overview:
JFS is looking for a compassionate, mission-driven individual to join the Balboa Avenue Older Adult Center team as a Care Aide. In this role, you have the opportunity to use your passion for working with older adults and previous knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and/or other dementias to make a meaningful difference in your community and help change lives across San Diego. The Care Aide plays an integral role on the team and supports the entire agency by building a positive rapport with clients and their families. This position reports directly to the Program Coordinator and works closely with the Assistant Coordinator and the rest of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Encourage client socialization and participation in activities
- Assist clients with eating and walking
- Transferring assistance
- Ensure client safety at all times
- Assist the Program Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator and volunteers in facilitating the program
Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:
- Substantial command of the English language
- Ability to communicate and establish a positive rapport with clients and their family members and caregivers
- Kind and patient
- Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions, and make decisions within scope of authority
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving several variables
- Ability to work under stress
Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:
- Experience working with frail older adults and adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s
Additional information required Upon Hire:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for up to 5 hours.
