JF&CS is now seeking a full-time Development Officer.
PURPOSE:
The Development Officer will be responsible for developing, growing and stewarding the Judith N. Cohen Society and Legacy Society. Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective donors. Develop and implement strategy for corporate engagement through event sponsorships and volunteer opportunities. This position plays a critical role in bringing in new funds for Annual Campaign and Special Events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Donors:
- Maintain a portfolio of donors and/or donor prospects to cultivate and steward annually, with focus on gifts or prospects who can give at the Judith N. Cohen Society level of $10,000 or above.
- Work with Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and Director of Development (DD), implement strategies and techniques to identify prospective new donors to expand and deepen donor support of the Annual Campaign through major gifts.
- Develop resources and relationships, including identification of donor prospects, donor research, cultivation and stewardship of donors.
Life & Legacy:
- Identify and solicit potential donors for legacy giving opportunities.
Corporate Engagement:
- Identify and cultivate relationships with corporations for benefit of JF&CS.
- Solicit corporations for event sponsorships.
- Coordinate with volunteer team to create meaningful engagement opportunities, both on-site and off-site, for corporations.
- Ensure corporate sponsors are receiving proper recognition at events.
Stewardship:
- Work with CAO, DD and Resource Development (RD) Committee to develop and implement stewardship strategies and plans that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors and legacy donors.
- Manage recognition for donors around birthdays and holidays with personal outreach.
- Work in partnership with staff to identify and develop recognition opportunities and events.
- Develop and implement stewardship events, in coordination with DD and Events Manager, that advance donor involvement and cultivation of major donors and legacy donors.

- Experience with Raisers Edge/NXT database preferred.
- Knowledge of legacy gift opportunities.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities at one time and meet deadlines.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, customer-service focused environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Special tasks or events may require after hours or weekend work (evenings or Sundays).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree at a minimum; Master’s degree a plus.
- 3-5 years professional experience in development/fundraising
Candidates who are selected for employment must successfully complete a pre-employment background screening as well as a pre-employment drug screening. Employment will be contingent upon the satisfactory completion of both the background check and the drug screening. Additionally, if applicable, tuberculosis testing (TB) and fingerprinting may also be required.
