Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) has served the San Francisco Bay Area for 175 years. Rhoda Goldman Plaza (RGP) is an assisted living and memory care community, built on a foundation of not-for-profit values and Jewish principles. As part of Jewish Family and Children Services, the organization is proud of creating a comfortable and stimulating environment for residents, through chef-prepared cuisine, cultural activities, and programs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager, the Server is responsible for various food service duties, including preparation, setup, and delivering prompt and courteous meal service and tray service to residents and guests while adhering to kosher cuisine. The Server embodies empathy and warmth, fostering a supportive, family-like atmosphere for all residents and upholding the values of Jewish Family and Children’s Services and Jewish traditions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Hourly Pay: $20.50 – $21/hr (depending on experience)
  • Employment Type: full-time, non-exempt position with benefits
  • Work Schedule: Saturday through Thursday (off Tuesday or Friday), 6:30AM – 3:00PM, with flexibility for 11:15AM-7:45PM

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver meals promptly and courteously, ensuring each resident’s dietary needs and restrictions are met
  • Set tables and maintain cleanliness and organization in dining areas following the kosher cuisine
  • Maintain clean, orderly and safe kitchen and dining room environment by ensuring proper storage of equipment, food and accessories. Handle food and beverage to meet the health department and RCFE (title 22) expectations
  • Engage with residents and guests, answering questions about menu items and providing assistance as needed
  • Assemble and deliver trays and “to-go” meals, ensuring they are presented attractively
  • Clear dishes and utensils from tables during and after meal service, ensuring a tidy dining environment
  • Work closely with kitchen staff to communicate special requests or dietary restrictions

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Server or senior facilities experience is preferred
  • Must undergo a Physical exam and Tuberculosis Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis prior to employment
  • Must obtain clearance or exemption approval from the Department of Social Services following FBI and DOJ livescan background check prior to employment
