Are you a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist (M.D. or D.O.) with a passion for improving community mental health? Jewish Community Services (JCS) is seeking a visionary Medical Director to oversee clinical psychiatric services within our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC). This is a dynamic leadership role for a physician committed to advancing mental health care through excellence in clinical practice, supervision, and strategic program development.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for clients aged 16 and older.
- Develop and oversee individualized treatment plans, ensuring client-centered, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches.
- Collaborate with therapists, case managers, and other clinical staff in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Support crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to higher levels of care when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Medical Oversight & Supervision
- Provide clinical leadership and medical supervision for all prescribing providers (psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants).
- Conduct case reviews, chart audits, and performance evaluations to ensure the highest standards of care.
- Ensure medical compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (including COMAR and BHA guidelines).
- Promote the integration of physical and behavioral health services.
Program Development & Compliance
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Mental Health Services to design, implement, and monitor medical protocols, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Lead compliance efforts for accreditation bodies such as CARF and Behavioral Health Administration (BHA).
- Participate in strategic planning, including growth and expansion of psychiatric services and community partnerships.
- Assist in budget development and fiscal oversight of psychiatric service lines.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) with board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the State of Maryland (or eligibility to obtain).
- Current DEA and CDS registration in Maryland.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry, with 3+ years in a leadership, supervisory, or administrative role preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in psychiatric treatment, psychopharmacology, and co-occurring disorders.
- Familiarity with state regulations, CARF accreditation standards, and OMHC operations.
- Proficiency in EMR systems (CareLogic and DrFirst experience preferred).
- Experience with telehealth service delivery strongly preferred.
- Must be paneled (or eligible for paneling) with commercial insurance and Medicaid plans JCS participates in.
