The Federation is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual with a variety of skill sets who wants to join a team working to build a new model of 21st century and next generation Federation engagement.

ROLE SUMMARY

The People Operations Associate owns the execution and day-to-day operations of the Federation’s people processes and systems. This role is responsible for the smooth, consistent operation of employee lifecycle processes, and people systems, with a strong focus on employee experience.

As the Federation continues to grow in organizational scale and complexity, there are increased demands placed on the People function. This opportunity will appeal to those who thrive in fast-paced and high-trust environments, and who enjoy learning new things (including building new relationships) quickly. We care about doing things right, and doing them well, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys the operational backbone of making that happen.

This role is a full time, hybrid position with two days in the office in San Francisco and reports to Managing Director, People.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

People Operations:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve people operations structures and processes that enhance the employee experience, support organizational effectiveness, and reduce administrative burden for managers and staff.
  • Own offboarding experiences; manage leaves of absence; develop, implement, and maintain HR policies; track and support training and development initiatives; and administer performance management and talent review processes in partnership with leadership.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compile and maintain accurate compensation data, including participation in external compensation market surveys, to support equitable and competitive pay practices.
  • Serve as the primary backup for payroll processing. Oversee the day-to-day administration of employee benefits and wellness programs, and support benefits open enrollment planning, timelines, communications, and execution.

Employee Experience & Culture:

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the employee experience and the effectiveness of People programs, communications, and service delivery.
  • Partner with leaders and employees to strengthen organizational culture, foster engagement and belonging, and reinforce company values through thoughtful programs, rituals, and internal communications.
  • Support and help organize employee engagement initiatives, community-building activities, and internal events that enhance connection and morale.

Compliance:

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and update HR policies, procedures, and practices as needed to mitigate risk and support a fair and compliant workplace.

Data, Systems & Insights:

  • Develop and analyze HR metrics and dashboards to identify trends, inform decision-making, and highlight areas for improvement across the employee lifecycle.
  • Maintain the HRIS as the accurate, reliable system of record for all employee data, ensuring data integrity and strong documentation practices.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Impeccable discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Highly detail-oriented, stellar organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to think outside of the box and propose meaningful solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset
  • Proactive, improvement-minded operator who can streamline workflows, leverage automation and AI, and being able to navigate ambiguity with ease.
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a big plus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of People Operations experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
