Part-Time Mental Health Clinician

Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island’s Cure Violence Program works to prevent gun violence by 1) mediating conflicts that may end in gun violence, 2) changing the thinking of individuals who are most at risk of being victims or perpetrators of violence, and 3) working closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.
JCCGCI’s Mental Health Services provide therapeutic and social-emotional support to youth and families affected by community violence, aiming to strengthen connections to community networks and promote culturally grounded behavioral change. The program offers individual and group therapy, supports trauma recovery, and addresses issues like depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It also works in coordination with other programs to connect participants to resources, build the capacity of local providers, and foster community-led approaches to public safety and mental wellness.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- · Implement culturally relevant, trauma-informed healing and wellness practices with individuals, families, and communities affected by gun violence and other trauma.
- · Provide limited individual and family counseling, support and bereavement groups, mentoring, and referrals to mental health, substance use, legal, and social services.
- · Help participants set personal goals and track progress through tools such as pre/post-tests, surveys, and evaluations.
- · Assist with accessing legal services, court appointments, entitlements, burial assistance, safety planning, and housing transfers, tailored to participant needs.
- · Support participants in finding practical solutions to real-life challenges in their daily environments.
- · Complete Evidence-Based Solution-Focused Brief Therapy training and deliver this therapy to eligible participants.
- · Attend ongoing training and continuing education as required.
- · Document all clinical and case management services in Therapy Notes EHR within 24 hours.
- · Collect and report participant data according to DYCD guidelines.
- · Maintain accurate records of all services, including conflict mediation, mentoring, and referrals.
Qualifications:
- · Master’s degree in a mental health field with related experience required.
- · Excellent written, communicative, and interpersonal skills.
- · Must be culturally humble and have a trauma-informed approach to service delivery.
- · Organizational and time management skills.
- · Ability to read, write, and speak English on a professional level.
- · Knowledge of utilizing EHR systems.
- · Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, WordPerfect, and data entry.
This position is Part-Time, 20-24 hours per week with a hybrid schedule.

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour.
