Musical Theater Assistant Specialist

Musical Theater at the JCCSF offers a multi-week session for grades 4-8. The Fall session runs September-December, and the Winter/Spring session runs January-May.
The Musical Theater Assistant Specialist will support the Musical Theater Specialist in creating, organizing, and implementing a full youth musical theater production.
The ideal candidate should have strong classroom management skills, experience with the relevant age range (9-13 years), and a strong background in musical theater.
- Support the organization and implementation of Musical Theater curriculum which will include the following:
- Singing
- Dance Choreography
- Set Design
- Acting
- Supports Musical Theater Specialist to deliver 13 weeks of musical theater programming including creating supply lists, curriculum development and teaching weekly design lessons.
- Implement an interactive, age-appropriate curriculum.
- Support participant drop-off and pick-up processes.
- Provide excellent customer service to families by communicating with them about their participant’s experience.
- Set-up and clean-up of program spaces.
- Implement regular safety check of supplies and tools.
- Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
- Model appropriate behavior for participants.
- Set clear and consistent expectations and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisor.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
- At least 1 year of experience working with youth / in youth programming.
- At least 1 year of musical theater experience.
- Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate design and tool use skills for elementary and middle school-aged campers.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
- Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs, stand/walk for multiple hours.

- Kanbar Hall and Stage (all tech rehearsals and final performance)
This position requires standing/walking for multiple hours, the ability to lift 50lbs (sets, props, additional materials, etc.), and has the potential need for demonstrating dance choreography to youth.
Limited computer work may be necessary for prep hours.
