SALARY RANGE
$32.75 - $34.05 per hour.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Lead Teacher serves as a pedagogical leader within a Reggio Emilia–inspired program guided by Jewish values, fostering a classroom culture rooted in inquiry, relationships, and community. This role extends beyond the classroom, partnering closely with site leadership to support high-quality curriculum, mentor educators, and build meaningful connections with families. The Lead Teacher models reflective practice and upholds values such as respect, belonging, lifelong learning and Early childhood education and care excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead beyond the classroom by collaborating closely with site leadership on program goals and initiatives
  • Participate in monthly Lead Teacher meetings and contribute to broader program development
  • Serve on the ECE Leadership Team (opportunity)
  • Oversee curriculum quality through reflective practice with site leadership and the teaching team
  • Delegate, review, and ensure completion of classroom documentation that makes learning visible
  • Act as the primary liaison between families and administration
  • Plan and lead classroom family events and engagement opportunities
  • Organize and facilitate weekly team meetings, including preparing and sharing agendas with site leadership
  • Mentor and support teaching team members; provide input and evaluative feedback to site leadership
  • Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, organizational policies, and program philosophy
  • Partner with families and site leadership to support individual children’s needs, including implementing strategies from specialists or therapists
REQUIREMENTS
  • BA or MA in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 24 ECE/CD units, including core courses
  • At least 7 years of teaching experience in a Reggio-inspired and/or Jewish preschool setting; prior experience at JCCSF preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in relevant technology
STATUS
Benefited, non-exempt, collective bargaining position
HOURS & SCHEDULE
35-40 per week.
