GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Aquatics Program Coordinator is the first point of contact for Swim School participants and their families, working on the pool deck to greet patrons, answer questions, and assist in managing the operation of the JCCSF Swim School program. The Aquatics Program Coordinator plays a supporting role in training swim instructors and implementing curriculum. The Aquatics Program Coordinator is a primary source of information regarding the swim lesson program and its philosophy, methods, schedule and teachers.

The Aquatics Program Coordinator acts as a back-up for swim instructors as needed and is required to teach at least one in-water shift. Must be comfortable in a pool setting and be a proficient swimmer. Training will be provided upon hire to learn the swim school curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet swim school participants as they arrive and be available on deck for assistance.
  • Explain the philosophy, curriculum and operations of the JCCSF Swim School and answer questions.
  • Actively engage with the participants to identify areas of opportunity, answer questions, or share observations about how their child is doing in the program.
  • Provide assistance with registration and/or operational functions using Salesforce CRM system
  • Participant Guidance:
    • Answer questions and provide guidance to participants about the JCCSF Swim School program
    • Direct participants and parents to the appropriate teaching station
    • Verify children are in the appropriate class and keep attendance
    • Evaluate swimmers, provide updates to families, and manage documentation.
    • Audit new registrations
    • Manage and update the class assignment white board
  • Instructor Guidance/Direction:
    • With direction from the Swim School Manager, train and coach new and current swim instructors in the JCCSF Swim School teaching model
    • Monitor and evaluate teacher effectiveness based on JCCSF Swim School Audit
    • Verify all teachers are present 15 minutes before classes for staff briefings
    • Direct instructors to proper teaching station
    • Assist swim instructors with any set-up or take-down duties
    • Call or follow up with any absent teachers
    • Teach class in the event of a teacher being tardy or absent
  • Take a lead role in the event of emergencies
  • Additional duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS

  • Outstanding customer service skills and experience working in a customer-focused organization
  • Upon employment, must pass the JCCSF Swim School training program and demonstrate proficiency
  • Positive, professional demeanor
  • Experience working with children
  • Experience as a swim instructor a plus
  • Outstanding computer skills, including MS Office. Experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Ability to learn and use office technologies and systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team and effectively engage and coordinate with various stakeholders (both staff and clients)
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is done primarily on the deck of an indoor aquatics facility and an adjacent office space. Work may include in-water swim instructor duties as needed. This is a public-facing role that requires continuous interaction with program participants.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to swim and lift 50lb safely

HOURS

8-19 hours/week

SCHEDULE

Sundays, and at least one weekday afternoon
