JCCSF Tikvah School of Music & Dance is a unique bicultural children’s program taught in Russian by native-speaking instructors. Tikvah explores Jewish culture through music, dance, art and Shabbat celebrations.
The Tikvah Accompanist/Song Leader supports the music program for children ages 2-7.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support weekly music sessions with music teacher and students
  • Help to plan curriculum
  • Play piano to accompany music and dance classes
  • Sing songs with children ages 2 – 7
  • Support teachers by offering age-appropriate musical activities
  • Create a safe, supportive, stimulating, and fun environment for students.
  • Provide continuous, direct supervision during classes and unstructured activities.
  • Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bilingual Russian/English communication skills
  • Experience working with children ages 2-7.
  • Strong piano skills
  • Experience in song leading.
  • Knowledge of songs appropriate for 2–7-year-olds.
  • Knowledge of Russian folk songs.
  • Knowledge of Jewish songs or ability to learn Jewish songs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position works on-site in a community center environment, with regular interactions with children and their families.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Playing piano.
Physical requirements
Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.

Non-benefited, non-exempt position
HOURS
4 – 5 hours per week
SCHEDULE
Saturdays, 9am – 1 pm
30 additional minutes per week for prep time
