Camper Support Coordinator

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Summer Camp is in session June 1 - August 21. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports.
Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with children in a school or camp setting, experience organizing and planning youth programs, and experience supervising camp staff. This is a very front-facing role, and someone who is outgoing and energetic is a must.
- Support general counselors and specialists by creating support plans, behavior charts, and camper break schedules
- Work with paraprofessionals to coordinate camp schedules if applicable
- Manage budget for any support supplies
- Provide weekly activity communication
- Support with camper pick-up and drop-off process
- Create a safe, supportive, stimulating and fun environment for campers
- Ensure campers' safety at all times
- Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors
- Model appropriate behavior for campers and staff.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Serve as a member of camp leadership team
- Support staff. This includes meetings as necessary, and regular verbal and written evaluations.
- Help organize and lead staff training.
- Appropriately respond to crisis situations.
- Step-in for staff breaks if necessary.
- Experience working with children in grades K - 8, preferably in a camp setting.
- Ability to respond sensitively to diverse groups of children.
- Ability to plan and execute creative activities for children.
- Ability to lead and motivate groups of campers and staff.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.
- Dedication to and eagerness for working in camp, informal education and youth programs.
- Knowledge of summer camps.
- Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently.
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise.
- Up to 10 hours per week from 5/1/2026 – 5/31/2026
- 37.5 hours per week from 6/1/2026– 8/21/2026
- June 1, 2026 – August 21, 2026
- 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday
