Fitness Floor Supervisor (Member Experience)

The Supervisor, Member Experience (Fitness Floor) is primarily responsible for supervision of Fitness Floor staff members (hiring, training and scheduling); equipment functionality and appearance (cleaning and upkeep); and increasing member engagement on the fitness floor. Additionally, the supervisor will provide weekly direct service in the form of working fitness floor shifts. Those with personal training certifications may also provide direct service in the form of personal training sessions with clients of the personal training program.
Schedule
The Supervisor works a set M-F schedule, but must have availability that includes weekend and evening hours as needed to cover dropped shifts or work large events a few time a year.
Responsibilities
- Ability to lead team members; hire, train, schedule, and supervise Fitness Floor staff. Includes other administrative functions like timekeeping and purchase orders etc.
- Manage and maintain safe, functional, and attractive equipment; ensure a clean and professional looking facility.
- Works closely with Mechanic to ensure equipment maintenance schedule is routinely completed and machines are not down for more than a reasonable amount of time.
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues while maintaining accountability for results.
- Creative approach to growing program participation through innovative offerings and high satisfaction.
- Respond to member concerns and ideas in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Availability to work Fitness, Sports, Aquatics + Membership major J events and programs.
- Oversee revenue-based programs, Indoor Triathlon or other future concepts.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience across areas of focus (fitness programming, personal training, sales & marketing), preferred
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification or able to obtain
- Excellent customer service skills able to proactively build relationships with members
- Creative, organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to lift and return weights to the storage racks (0-50 pounds)
- Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, payroll and scheduling software, etc.)
- Mechanically inclined a plus
- Certified Personal Trainer a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move freely around the Fitness, Sports & Aquatics facilities.
- Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to assist members or while working with equipment.
- Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
