Description

Join the Child Development Center as a Floating Teacher working Monday-Friday 9am-5:30pm. A CDC Floating Teacher is responsible for supporting all aspects of our classrooms environment in conjunction with Lead and Assistant Teachers.

About The Child Development Center

The Child Development Center (CDC) at The J offers families of children ages 12 months through five years both full- and part-time care. We have been providing outstanding child care for more than 80 years. The CDC at The J provides a secure environment designed with child-appropriate equipment and décor, enabling children of all faiths and cultures to learn and grow to their full potential.

The curriculum is designed to promote self-esteem, independence, cooperative skills and the ability to problem-solve. Children thrive in our warm, vibrant environment. In addition to our curriculum, children are encouraged to participate in age-appropriate activities like American Red Cross swimming lessons and enrichment classes including cooking, art, science, and more. The J welcomes members, students and employees of all faiths.

Responsibilities

  • Help cover classrooms during staff absences and/or breaks.
  • Work flexibly and comfortably working with children ages 1 year to 5 years old.
  • Maintain KDHE licensing requirements at all times.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with parents through formal and informal communication.
  • Create positive relationships with co-workers.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children in a licensed environment
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.

Physical Requirements

This position required frequent (2-5 hours per shift) stalking, walking, carrying, and repetitive motions and occasional (up to 2 hours per shift) sitting, lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling, and stooping/crouching.
