Description

Stages at the J (The Jewish Community Center’s Youth Theatre program) offers performance opportunities for students with a wide range of talents and background in theatre.

We are currently seeking an instructor to help direct Willy Wonka Kids & Anastasia Youth Edition for students ranging from 2nd through 12th grade.

Schedule: The position will work August 3rd - November 30th, part-time on Sundays 11:15pm - 5:00pm

Dry Tech: Monday, November 24th

Student Tech Rehearsal: Saturday, November 29th

Performance Dates: Sundays November 23rd and 30th

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a safe and fun environment
  • Direct and teach music for student production
  • Be prepared and dressed to reflect a positive image of The J
  • Have lessons and staging prepped prior to class arrival
  • Communicate with supervisor about any problems and concerns in the classroom
Requirements
  • Prior experience with directing/music directing school aged productions
  • B.F.A. or other degree related to teaching or theatre preferred, but not required
  • Experience in elementary education and teaching a variety of ages and skill levels, especially 2nd -12th grade
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service to students and their parents/guardians
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students of all ages and abilities

Physical Requirements

This job requires frequent talking and hearing. Occasional sitting, standing, walking and exposure to loud noise of sound system.
