Description

The Production Assistant (PA) will report to the Production Stage Manager and assist the theatre in a variety of ways throughout the year. The PA will assist with a variety of activities for shows, concerts, special engagements, and rentals. These activities may include, but are not limited to, stagehand work, scenic builds/painting, pulling props, organizing costumes, cleaning/organizing dressing rooms.

Schedule

The PA will work approximately 15-20 hours per week and shifts may include evenings and weekends depending on the needs of events in the theater.

Principal Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Assist the PSM with audition preparation for shows
  • Ensure a clean, safe rehearsal area for actors using the space onstage/backstage. This includes sweeping, mopping, table set up, piano set up, etc.
  • Assist with backstage support for theatre events, as assigned by the PSM. This will include acquiring knowledge of the sound and light boards as well as spotlight operation.
  • Assist with set construction, costume construction, props creation as assigned by the PSM.
  • Participate in production and staff meetings.
  • Assist with theatre cleaning and organizational projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the PSM.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of previous theatre experience
  • Basic knowledge / willingness to learn live theatre systems and procedures
  • An established track record of punctuality and professionalism
  • Comfortable with a fluid, flexible workplace environment
  • History of taking initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Established communication and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting/carrying a minimum of 25 pounds
