SUMMARY:

The Program Director for the Weinberg Park Heights JCC on the Goldsmith Campus will lead the development, implementation, and oversight ng programming and community engagement for children, families, and adults with particular emphasis on serving the needs of the Orthodox Jewish community.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, ambitious, creative, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment. This individual will oversee and manage all existing programs, identify new program ideas and opportunities, and build mutually beneficial and meaningful community partnerships that reflect the needs and values of the Park Heights community. Success in this role will be measured by overall program participation, membership growth, and community satisfaction.

Please note the Park Heights JCC is currently undergoing renovation. Once the renovation of the Goldsmith Campus at Park Heights is complete, the Program Director, Weinberg Park Heights JCC, will work closely with The Associated and other agencies to maximize the use of the community space available for programs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Create, implement and manage all aspects of programming for the Weinberg Park Heights JCC for children, Families and adults
  • Collaborate with other JCC departments around arts and culture and sports and wellness programming.
  • Organize and Supervise Motzei Shabbos programming on Saturday night from November - March
  • Work closely with the LifeBridge Health staff member who serves as coordinator for the Living Well at the J programs to ensure maximum benefits for both organizations.
  • Oversee, supervise and provide support for programs and departments including but not limited to:
    1. J Play (Babysitting)
    2. Happy Glaze
    3. J Zone
    4. Birthday Parties
  • Develop, implement, and supervise Summer Youth programming at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee large Park Heights program events.
  • Attend the weekly Park Heights Operations meetings and share pertinent information about upcoming programs that impact the facility (housekeeping, security, and other operations).
  • Serve as the liaison to the marketing department for Park Heights related marketing material and work with the Sr. Director, Weinberg Park Heights JCC to ensure they reflect the cultural sensitivities of the Orthodox Community.
  • Provide education, guidance, and support to staff about Jewish/Orthodox traditions and practices to ensure our Park Heights programs, classes, and schedules maintain the cultural sensitivities of this community.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with other Associated agencies, community groups, lay leadership, schools, and shuls.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Program and Operations, Weinberg Park Heights JCC and the Assistant Director, Membership to discuss, address, and communicate Park Heights member-related issues and concerns.
  • Complete the annual budget process and monitor budgets throughout the year.
  • Attend and contribute to JCC-wide events and community initiatives as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Strong knowledge of traditional Jewish culture and traditions and demonstrated understanding of the Park Heights Jewish Observant community
  • Creativity and a passion for program creation and implementation
  • Ability to liaison with Jewish organizations and communal leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong ability to communicate effectively with staff, members, community partners and lay leaders
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in programming for children, youth, and/or adults including supervisory and budget management experience
  • A quick learner and self-starter with the ability to multi-task and take ownership of programs.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively in a team-oriented culture
  • Understands and is committed to developing strategies that align with the Mission and Vision of the JCC
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment is usually fast paced, with frequent interaction with staff, members, other agency staff, community leaders, outside partners, and others.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer; must be able to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary (or Salary Range): $60,000 - 65,000
