Grants Manager and Bookkeeper

The JCA’s mission is to enhance and promote Jewish life and continuity locally, in Israel, and throughout the world, and to generate the financial resources to develop, provide and support diverse programs, education and services in order to accomplish these goals.

The JCA is currently hiring a qualified candidate for a full-time Grants Manager and Bookkeeper position. As part of our finance and operations team, this person will play an important role in ensuring compliance with grant requirements, providing timely and accurate financial management, and supporting the JCA’s financial health. We are looking for someone who is skilled, proactive, and passionate to join our growing and vibrant community.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, and bank reconciliations
  • Classify and code financial transactions appropriately to ensure accurate tracking of income and expenses

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Process invoices and payments accurately and in a timely manner
  • Monitor and follow up on accounts receivable

Financial Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to provide financial information and support decision-making
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of highly sensitive data
  • Help the team move toward the goal of maximizing efficiency

Grants Management:

  • Pre-Award: Work closely with Program Directors to ensure budget proposals are compliant and competitive, responsive to solicitation requirements, and submitted in alignment with internal and external deadlines and policies
  • Post-Award:
    • Process reimbursement requests and payments
    • Maintain compliance with financial reporting requirements throughout the year
    • Maintain electronic databases (project budgets; project expenses) as they pertain to financial and award management
    • Oversee non-financial post-award activities, including submission of programmatic reports and management of requests for no-cost extensions and other changes requiring sponsor approval

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of work experience in finance, accounting, business operations, or grant/contract financial administration, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Proficiency with Quickbooks and Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
  • Strong ethics and comfort in handling confidential financial information
  • Solid analytical mind with an eye towards proactive problem-solving
  • Strong financial and analytic skills with understanding of financial processes and controls
  • Demonstrated experience in the review, submission, and processing of federal grant and/or contract proposals, subaward and subrecipient terms and conditions
  • Familiarity with federal grants submission and reporting processes

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $50,000-$60,000. The JCA offers a competitive benefits package that includes generous programmatic discounts, 11 Federal Holidays and up to 10 Jewish holidays off each year, employer-provided Dental Insurance and Long-and Short-term disability coverage, as well as 90% of individual health insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
