The Jewish Communal Leadership Program (JCLP) is seeking a collaborative, energetic, and hands-on leader who will contribute to JCLP's growth. JCLP creates and supports a tightly-knit student cohort pursuing a demanding course of study within the Master of Social Work Program at the School of Social Work (SSW).

Under the direction and supervision of the JCLP Director, the successful candidate will serve as the Program Manager and share responsibility for the day-to-day management of JCLP and participate in program planning and strategy. Duties will include logistical responsibilities for program administration, student services, admissions and travel/event management.

This position is a full-time staff position providing full University of Michigan benefits which requires some flexible scheduling of evening and weekend work around busy periods such as orientation and other special events. Responsibilities*

Program Administration

  • Manage day-to-day office needs including interfacing with IT and AV services and ordering office supplies.
  • Manage regular/consistent email, social media, and communications for current students, alumni, donors, community members, and other partners.
  • Serve as primary JCLP contact for outside departments, schools, and organizations; respond to requests for information.
  • Manage expenses and transactions for the program, including purchases and honorariums.
  • Hire and supervise work-study students.
  • Organize information on all aspects of the program for annual reports.
  • Coordinate with the SSW Office of Alumni and Development Relations, Field office, and Facilities team on various projects and events throughout the year.

Student Mentoring, Advising, and Services

  • Assist with student course planning and field placements in collaboration with the JCLP director, SSW Offices of Student Services and Field Education, and LSA Judaic Studies.
  • Advise students individually and in groups, helping them refine career interests and goals.
  • Assist with financial aid, scholarship and funding coordination.
  • Connect students directly with alumni networks, mentoring, and employment opportunities.
  • Assist with student-led programming and advise on best practices.
  • Foster a culture that promotes student success, well-being, and community.

Admissions and Recruitment

  • Manage the application review and applicant interview processes.
  • Develop engaging, well-designed marketing materials.
  • Travel to recruitment events locally, regionally, and nationally as needed.
  • Maintain a database of prospective students, current applicants, and recruitment contacts.
  • Expand year-round recruitment efforts, with an emphasis on in-state recruitment.

Travel and Event Management

  • Coordinate all event and travel arrangements, ensuring all necessary materials and supplies are assembled, itineraries/communications prepared, and expense reports submitted and reimbursed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on SSW and U-M best practices with preferred vendors as well as PCard and Short Code payment policies.
  • Work with students, staff and director to execute large and small events.
  • Plan and oversee student trips including several local site visits, 1 national visit, and potentially 1 international visit per year.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated experience working in academic support or program coordination/management roles (2-3 years).
  • Knowledge of personal computing software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite. Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Suite, Mailchimp, and U-M Canvas helpful.
  • Ability to work independently by setting own deadlines and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain integrity of confidential materials and student information.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive and respectful working relationships with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.

Desired Qualifications*

  • MSW or relevant graduate degree.
  • Program recruiting experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of higher education practices, U-M procedures, and campus resources. Familiarity with the Jewish communal landscape is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will be a "details person" who is highly organized and able to manage complex projects.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus.
