Job Summary: To provide intensive mentorship to young adults enrolled in the Arches Program.
Essential Generic Job Functions:
- Successfully complete the “Interactive Journaling” training, the established curriculum for the Arches Program, as well as other trainings deemed necessary by the program
- Participate in community outreach events designed to: educate the community about the program and its mission; establish networks; and cultivate new referrals to the program
- Assist the Program Coordinator in coordinating and processing new referrals
- Schedule and conduct formal Arches Orientations for new referrals
- Schedule and participate in weekly individual and group meetings with mentees
- Effectively deliver the “Interactive Journaling” curriculum to program mentees
- Provide intensive mentorship to all assigned mentees throughout their tenure in the program in all areas, including but not limited to education, vocation, social, recreation, medical, and mental health.
- Respond 24/7 to mentee emergencies either in person or on the phone
- Complete all intake assessments, reports, progress notes and maintain the mentee case record in accordance with JCCA and Dept. of Probation standards
- Maintain regular communication with the assigned Probation Officers and all collaterals
- Participate in regular individual and group supervision with the Program Coordinator
- Create and organize all incentive activities, including but not limited to, graduation events, recreational activities, and group activities.
- Work with the Program Coordinator to establish and maintain a Community Advisory Board and produce a monthly newsletter
- Represent the Arches Program at all local community events
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
- Demonstrated creative work with challenging youth required. Personal and professional experience with the Department of Probation a plus
- Experience with group facilitation is preferred
- Must demonstrate credible messenger experience by being justice-involved, have work experience in criminal justice, or live in the South Bronx
- HS Diploma required
Physical Requirement:
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to perform light recreational activities (i.e. walking, swimming or playing basketball )
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to frequently communicate with clients who have inquiries about services that you are providing. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour
