Position Summary:

The Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for the safe and accurate administration of prescribed medications to residents in a residential treatment setting. This role supports clinical staff in maintaining medication compliance, monitoring resident health, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory and organizational standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed, following established protocols and physician orders
  • Accurately document medication administration and maintain medication records (MARs)
  • Monitor residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff
  • Assist with medication storage, inventory, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Communicate effectively with nurses, clinicians, and residential staff regarding resident care
  • Support residents in understanding their medications and treatment plans (as appropriate)
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe medication administration environment
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established procedures
  • May include other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Certified Medication Technician (CMT) or Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP) certification

  • CPR/First Aid certification required

  • Competent in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Previous experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, or healthcare setting preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medication administration and basic pharmacology, as per AMAP training

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Calm and effective response in high-stress situations

  • Team-oriented with a commitment to resident-centered care

  • Fully understand and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and patient confidentiality.

Pay Rate: $20.50 - $25.00
