Job Summary

Are you passionate about helping young people discover their strengths and build meaningful career pathways? The Career & Internship Coordinator plays a key role in supporting students by providing educational and career guidance, developing tailored internship opportunities, and fostering partnerships with employers and families. This position combines counseling, program development, and employer engagement to help students succeed both in and beyond the classroom.

Summary of Responsibilities

Student Support & Career Development

  • Identify students’ career interests and develop individualized internship placements aligned with their goals, skills, and readiness
  • Provide ongoing guidance, feedback, and resources to support students’ academic, personal, and career development
  • Assist students with out-of-school challenges and provide crisis intervention when needed
  • Support students post-internship with employment planning, educational counseling, and next-step career guidance

Family & Community Engagement

  • Engage and collaborate with families to promote positive student outcomes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, community partners, and external agencies

Internship & Employer Development

  • Develop and manage internship opportunities across a diverse range of employment sectors
  • Match internships to students’ interests, skills, maturity levels, and experience
  • Provide guidance to employers on creating meaningful internship experiences and working effectively with adolescents
  • Support employers and students throughout the internship experience through phone calls, meetings, and on-site visits

Program Facilitation & Operations

  • Facilitate weekly student seminars focused on education, career readiness, and skill-building
  • Lead employment and internship readiness workshops for students not enrolled in semester-long preparation courses
  • Track, evaluate, and report on program outcomes and operational data using both narrative and statistical documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field preferred
  • Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, families, and employer partners
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to documentation, data tracking, and accountability
  • Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends
  • Commitment to a strength-based, youth development approach
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with at-risk, truant, or justice-involved adolescents and young adults
  • Community-based work experience in education, employment, or workforce development settings

Pay Rate: $27.47 -$29.12 ($50K - $53K annualized)
