Position Summary

JCCA is seeking an Outreach and Benefits Resource Specialist to support our Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) Preventive Program in the Bronx. This role combines community outreach with benefits navigation, helping expand the program’s reach while ensuring families have access to the resources that promote safety, stability, and healing.

CPP provides trauma-informed, dyadic therapy for caregivers and young children (ages 0–5) who have experienced domestic violence, trauma, or other significant stressors. The Specialist will represent the CPP program across Bronx communities—building partnerships, developing referral pathways, and directly assisting families in addressing barriers related to housing, food insecurity, healthcare, and public benefits.

This position requires some evening and occasional Saturday hours to best meet the needs of families and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Collaborate with the Program Director to implement outreach strategies that increase CPP referrals and program visibility.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with agencies serving caregivers and young children (early childhood programs, Head Start, pediatric clinics, family shelters, domestic violence organizations, family courts, etc.).
  • Conduct ongoing outreach through phone calls, site visits, and follow-ups to strengthen referral relationships.
  • Attend community events, health fairs, coalition meetings, and family engagement activities to promote CPP services.
  • Deliver brief presentations to staff and clients at community agencies, schools, and hospitals.
  • Work with the Program Director and Communications team to create outreach materials, flyers, and social media content.
  • Track all outreach activities and referral outcomes using internal reporting systems.
  • Identify underserved neighborhoods or populations and implement tailored engagement strategies (e.g., bilingual outreach, parent workshops, faith-based partnerships).
  • Review referral data with the Program Director and adjust outreach efforts to meet ACS utilization goals.

Benefits Navigation & Family Support

  • Assist families with applications and renewals for benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, childcare subsidies, housing programs, and other supports.
  • Provide individualized guidance on eligibility criteria, timelines, and required documentation.
  • Offer support with immigration-related forms and processes when appropriate.
  • Facilitate monthly workshops that help caregivers understand public systems, improve financial stability, and access community resources.
  • Maintain and update a Bronx-based resource directory for program staff and families.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in preventive services, community outreach, or benefits navigation.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, schools, and referral networks in the Bronx.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of NYC public benefits systems and Bronx community resources.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
