Our programs include foster and residential care, educational assistance and remediation, case management for young people with mental health challenges and services to families to prevent child abuse and maltreatment. JCCA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Residential Services, to ensure that children are safe and well cared for while residing on our Westchester Residential Campus. In close collaboration with the Clinical, Permanency, and Nursing departments, the Director of Residential Services provides visionary leadership, ensures effective supervision, and spearheads the implementation of innovative, and transdisciplinary child care programming.

The ideal candidate will bring a trauma-informed, child-centered approach to care, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and healing.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

· Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring that cottages follow all JCCA policies and procedures, and work in conjunction with the SVP of residential to improve campus procedures, to provide streamlined services across multiple disciplines.

· Ensures all staff are compliant with all JCCA policies, procedures and training mandates.

· Supports all functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies

· Ensure safe movement of youth throughout the campus, including but not limited to movement to and from school, infirmaries, recreation, and other activities.

· Provide ongoing leadership, management, and coaching to ensure that programming (and related administrative needs) are integrated, non-siloed and holistically provides a developmental, safe and supportive experience for our youth.

· Drive and oversee the performance management and goal setting process of direct teams with an approach designed for continuous self-evaluation, development, and engagement for high performance.

· Assist in the creation and oversight of safe visiting plans with family (or other resource) and treatment team to move forward with the permanency plan.

· Collaborate with Human Resources and the Child Care administration in the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of all child care staff. Ensure management of union staff is in line with CBA.

· Participate and ensure program and treatment models are implemented, sustained with model fidelity.

Competencies Required

· Capacity to lead and supervise a broad array of recovery-oriented trauma-informed practice within a residential treatment setting

· Embodies trauma informed principles & values and ensures an integration of said principles throughout the program

· Supports and Strengthens Interdisciplinary practice

· Ability to lead and implement program development initiatives

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Master’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field preferred.

· Min 10 years of experience overseeing and driving programs for youth and families with Intellectual Disabilities and/or psychiatric conditions in a large-scale, residential treatment care setting.

· Comprehensive knowledge of policies, procedures and regulations for individual being served by OCFS and ACS.

· Ability to create, oversee, and develop schedules, and work within budgetary and overtime constraints.

· Proficient with MS Office with the ability to learn new technology platforms;

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels of the organization;

· Demonstrated strong writing skills without grammatical errors

· Experience with ACS and OCFS reporting tools and systems is highly preferred;

· Demonstrated understanding of the impact of institutional and structural racism on the child welfare industry and in disadvantaged communities.
