Position Summary: JCCA’s Behavioral Health and Wellness division is seeking a part-time (7 hours/week) Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for the Bronx Counseling Center (BCC) outpatient clinic. The Bronx Counseling Center (BCC) is an Article 31 outpatient clinic licensed by OMH. The clinic serves children between the ages of 0 to 21 and their families. BCC provides individual and family therapy, psychoeducation, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and linkages to other providers in the community. Services are offered in-person and via telehealth. The clinic typically receives referrals from a variety of sources, including local schools, hospitals, residential treatment facilities, foster care agencies, and other community-based service providers.

Under the supervision of a psychiatrist in conjunction with the clinic supervisor and director, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) has the clinical responsibility for monitoring treatment and staff delivery of clinical services. When functioning to offset psychiatry hours, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment, as well as related psychoeducation and treatment of the team. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will develop, maintain and supervise medication administration, in addition to psychiatric and medical treatment and procedures. The PNP must maintain consistent, ongoing communication with the entire team. They must maintain OMH Part 599 regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide case contacts – psychiatric evaluations, medication assessment, administration, and monitoring, coordination with external psychiatric service providers as needed, psychoeducation with families
  • Participation in team meetings, supervision by a psychiatrist (no fewer than 4 hours per month)

Qualifications:

  • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must be currently licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Education Department.
  • Must have 1-2 years of experience working with children and youth with significant emotional disorders, severe mental, emotional and behavioral impairments, histories of hospitalization, and families with complex, multi-system needs, in crisis, with children in a mental health setting, or related experience.
  • Excellent Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Ability to work with multiple functional departments
  • Knowledge of Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Medicaid and Federal guidelines
  • Strong background in Evidence Based Models and Practice
  • Patience and ability to work as a team
  • Expertise in Social Determinants of Health, Race Equity, Social Justice, and Trauma Informed care
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and clinical skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) a plus

Hourly Range: $150.00
