JCCA’s mission is to provide the highest quality child welfare and mental health services to New York’s neediest and most vulnerable children and families to ensure that their safety, permanency and well-being leads to a life of stability and promise.

Our programs include foster and residential care, educational assistance and remediation, case management for young people with mental health challenges and services to families to prevent child abuse and maltreatment. JCCA offers safety, stability and lifesaving support to help our clients transform their lives. JCCA programs help more than 17,000 children and families annually.

Position Summary:

JCCA is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and implement the organization's marketing, communications and public relations strategy. They will lead efforts to increase brand awareness, community engagement and visibility to support continued mission growth. The Director of Marketing and Communications will collaborate with the Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) to create and execute comprehensive marketing strategies across digital and traditional channels and curate inspiring narratives that resonate with our stakeholders and supporters.

The ideal candidate is a creative leader with a strong commitment to mission-driven initiatives, and the ability to inspire others while achieving tangible results in marketing and communications efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with CDCO to develop a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations plan designed to support and advance JCCA’s mission, vision and strategic objectives.

  • Oversee the agency's digital marketing efforts, including website management, social media presence, newsletters.

  • Develop and curate engaging content for digital platforms to increase visibility and engagement with stakeholders; ensure all content is consistent with the JCCA’s brand and messaging guidelines.

  • Work closely with development and government relations teams to develop fundraising and advocacy communications strategies and the collateral to support those strategies.

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance internal communication and employee engagement within the agency.

  • Manage relationship with JCCA’s outside public relations and communications firm; serve as internal point person for media requests.

  • Manage a small, high-performing team providing mentorship, guidance, and support to foster their professional growth and development.

  • Responsible for developing metrics and KPI's, to evaluate the effectiveness of various marketing and communications efforts; Use insights and data to inform future initiatives

  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships with other organizations, businesses, and influencers to amplify JCCA’s impact.

  • Other duties and projects assigned by CDCO

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field;

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in communications, public relations, or related field, with demonstrated progressive leadership experience, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven organization

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise and compelling narratives and messages for diverse audiences.

  • Experience with managing media relations, managing press inquiries, and interacting with journalists and influencers

  • Proficiency in digital communications tools and platforms

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams that are culturally and professionally diverse

  • Experience and technical proficiency with Wordpress websites, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft 365, along with other digital marketing and communications tools.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing a team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience with video production and editing a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in communications, public relations or related field is preferred
