JOB SUMMARY:

The Licensed Mental Health Counselor will work in collaboration with the Campus Safety team to provide in- person services to children and adolescents on the JCCA campus community. In accordance with Article I-29 and Families First, the Social Worker will provide crisis counseling and intervention for young adults experiencing acute crisis. The LMHC will report to Assistant Director of Behavioral Support.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Provide prompt mobile crisis assessment and short term intervention for children, adolescents and their families, focused on safety planning and crisis stabilization.
  • Provide assessment, and treatment services to victims and witnesses of crime and other potentially traumatic events.
  • Screen and use rapid risk assessment to effectively respond to clients to reduce risk factors for suicide/self-harming behaviors, substance abuse, program disturbance, ER visits, and psychiatric hospitalization, arrest/recidivism, and incarceration.
  • Obtain immediate case consultation and supervision, when needed for support, enhanced decision making and safety in high risk situations.
  • Conduct comprehensive, child and family assessments including diagnosis, clinical formulation, safety plans and OLP evaluations.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic services utilizing psycho-dynamically oriented, trauma focused, cognitive behavioral, and play therapy interventions, as well as family and group therapy modalities.
  • Conduct campus community education programs to increase awareness of mental health and safety.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning team meetings.
  • Maintain positive collaborative relationships with referral sources and key community providers.

SCHEDULE:

8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hours shifts available;

Must be available some weekends and evenings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York Stated licensed LCSW/LMSW/LMHC/LMFT/LCAT – limited permit is acceptable
  • Strong clinical background in crisis intervention and experience working with diverse populations
  • Strong diagnostic and therapeutic skills, particularly using short-term treatment models.
  • Experience in use of electronic health records software.
  • Previous experience in Residential Setting is highly preferred
  • NYS Driver license is needed to drive Agency vehicles – NJ, CT license is acceptable

SALARY:

  • $56K-63K- Differential Offered for license and bilingual skills if applicable to client population
