We serve as a hub for education, wellness, philanthropy, culture, and community-building. Our monthly publication—Jewish Rhode Island which includes newspaper, website, newsletters, podcast other communications—is a vital tool for storytelling, outreach, and engagement.
We’re seeking a motivated and mission-aligned Advertising Sales Representative to help grow revenue streams that support our programs, publications, and services. This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starter who’s passionate about local media, community engagement, and nonprofit impact.
Position Summary:
The Advertising Sales Representative is responsible for securing advertising partnerships that generate revenue for Jewish Rhody Media, the Jewish Alliance’s media platforms, which include Jewish Rhode Island newspaper (print & digital), podcast series, e-newsletters, and supplemental publications. This role focuses on building relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and institutional partners to help them reach a dedicated, engaged audience while supporting a meaningful nonprofit mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sell advertising packages across Jewish Rhody Media: print, digital, podcast, and newsletter channels
- Cultivate and manage relationships with local businesses, sponsors, and community advertisers
- Research prospects and actively generate leads through cold calls, networking, email outreach, and in-person meetings
- Maintain regular contact with clients and provide excellent customer service
- Collaborate with branding, fundraising, and editorial teams to develop sponsorship opportunities and seasonal promotions.
- Track sales, contracts, and invoicing; follow up on renewals as needed.
- Provide advertisers with reporting metrics for digital placements when applicable.
- Represent Jewish Rhode Island at local events, business expos, and networking groups.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in advertising, media, or sponsorship sales required
- Associates degree required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Experience using CRM tools or tracking leads and outreach
- Familiarity with nonprofit, Judaism, or community-focused environments
- Must have access to your own transportation and the ability to attend in-person events or meetings

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while making sales calls, sending emails, or attending virtual meetings.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, and other office technology for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to travel locally to attend client meetings, networking events, and community functions (valid driver's license and reliable transportation required).
- Occasionally required to lift or carry promotional materials, such as brochures, presentation boards, or small display items (up to 20 lbs).
- Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in person, over the phone, and in writing.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, event spaces, and client locations.
