Role Overview
- Reporting in to the Exec Director Europe, The Director of Community Development Programs is a senior team member responsible for helping shape and support JDC’s community development work across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
- The role focuses on setting clear program frameworks, strengthening community-based initiatives, and guiding Community Developers as they work directly with local communities.
- This position enables teams to design and deliver effective programs rather than managing all program details directly.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain regional program models. Build a long-term strategic roadmap for program development throughout the region.
- Translate strategic priorities into clear goals for planning and evaluation.
- Ensure alignment and consistency across communities and regions.
- Provide tools, guidance, and frameworks to Community Developers.
- Support creation and improvement of program models that respond to local needs.
- Promote community-driven, evidence-based approaches.
- Ensure monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes are included from the start.
- Track impact indicators and use data to guide decisions
- Lead and mentor a team of up to eight Community Developers.
- Engage directly with communities when needed.
- Encourage collaboration and learning across the regional team.
- Identify opportunities for innovation.
- Manage planning, budgeting, and reporting processes with the Executive Regional Director
- Collaborate closely with Program Operations, External Affairs, Finance, HR, and Impact & Evaluation teams.
Candidate Profile
- Based in Europe or Israel
- Senior experience in community development, education, or social-impact programs
- Programming experience within European Jewish communities
- Experience using Theory of Change or similar frameworks.
- Ability to lead a team remotely
- Strong background in partnership-based work.
