Board Engagement Manager

JDC is seeking a highly skilled project management, administrative, or operations professional for the Board Engagement Manager position. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in nonprofit operations and Board management. This position will manage education, engagement and worldwide travel programming related to members of the JDC Board to enhance their connection to JDC and its mission, and to help with their work as Board members.

What will you do as a Board Engagement Manager?
Engagement and Education
- Assist in the work of the Director of Board Relations and the Board Engagement Committee, working with Chairs and members to execute annual Board Engagement and Education plan, new Board member onboarding, and Board mentoring
- Schedule and prepare materials of all Board Engagement Committee meetings, take minutes, and prepare regular communications to the committee
- Liaise and coordinate with Resource Development, Marcom, Entwine and other key departments as needed
- Execute a segment of board engagement and education programs including crafting vision, budgeting, working with chairs, invitations, scheduling, rehearsal and coaching of speakers, promotion of event or travel and other related logistics
- Coordinate holiday and other personalized outreach to Board members on behalf of the Board Engagement Committee and Executive Office
Board Communications
- Articulate annual and ongoing plan around frequency, schedule, and content of Board Communications
- Field questions from Board Members related to your work; Foster relationships with Board members and colleagues by providing excellent customer service and becoming a valued resource
Travel
- Serve as primary contact for Board missions and Board Members interested in traveling on behalf of JDC
- Provide assistance to Board members seeking to travel to JDC destinations in coordination with Resource Development
- Coordinating board member individual travel to the JDC field
Other
- Familiarize yourself with JDC’s global mission and work
- Assist with additional work of the Board Relations department as needed.
- Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time
What qualifications are required to be our Board Engagement Manager?
- Prior experience in a role with a significant project management, operational, and/or administrative component
- Intermediate to advanced Zoom facilitation skills
- Outstanding time management skills
- Extremely high level of organization and follow-through, with excellent attention to detail
- Strong multitasking skills, able to switch quickly between different tasks without losing the thread
- Strategic thinking skills—able to see both the micro details and the macro context, and apply that to creating long-term engagement plans
- Problem solving skills, proactivity, and process orientation; Self-driven, with an eye towards ever improving how we work, and the adaptability to pivot with the unexpected in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and relational skills, with the ability to build strong relationships; Ability to communicate in person and over the telephone
- Great written communication and business writing skills
- Ability to work well and calmly under pressure
- Ability to work well both independently and with team members on a small, close team; strong team-orientation
- Ability to read words and numbers
- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment
Additional Preferred Skills and Competencies:
- Prior experience with facilitation, public speaking, teaching, or coaching
- Comfort with technology and digital site management
- Strong interest in the organization’s workings, and/or prior institutional knowledge of the organization
- Curiosity, the ability to learn quickly
- Ability to bend, reach, and lift up to 10-20 lbs. occasionally
- Passion for humanitarian work and/or global Jewish service strongly preferred

- Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:45 AM – 4:45PM with a 1-hour lunch break
- Location: Hybrid from New York, NY in office Tuesdays and Thursdays

What are the compensation and benefits for a Board Engagement Manager?
This is a full-time position paid semi-monthly at a salary of $70,000-$80,000 per year; in determining where a candidate falls in that range JDC considers several factors, including skills and experience, internal equity, and cost of living in location of work. This role is exempt per the FLSA.
