JCYS is Hiring Day Camp Counselors!
Location: Big City Day Camp – Lincoln Square/Ravenswood
Dates: June 10 (Orientation) June 15 – August 7 (Camp)
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Ages of Campers: 5 to 10 years old

The Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) is a 118-year-old, Chicago-based nonprofit that proudly serves children of all religions, races, and ethnicities across Chicagoland. We’re looking for enthusiastic and responsible Day Camp Counselors to join our Big City Day Camp team this summer!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage with campers to create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment

  • Lead recreational activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games, and more

  • Reinforce rules and safety expectations in a positive, respectful way

  • Bring energy, creativity, and kindness to each camp day

  • Communicate effectively with teammates and leadership

  • Participate in staff training and ongoing team meetings

  • Serve as a positive role model and help campers try new things


Qualifications:

  • At least 16 years old

  • Enjoys working with youth and being outdoors

  • Strong communication and listening skills

  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities

  • Energetic, positive, and team-oriented

  • Must be available for training and all camp dates (June 2–August 1)

  • Able to work in all summer weather conditions


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and actively participate in camp activities

  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds

  • Capable of physical activity such as climbing, crouching, or crawling as needed
