The purpose of this position is to render direct clinical services to children, families, adults and groups, across a broad range of presenting needs, including trauma, family systems and behavioral issues. This billable hour's clinician position may also cover mental health consultation or other assignments to meet the direct service needs of the Outpatient Behavioral Health (OBH) umbrella of programming.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Client/Family Therapy

  • Develops the full range of clinical skills, including the gathering and analysis of data, formulation of assessment and treatment plans, within the context of critical thinking, and implementation of the treatment for routine and complex cases.
  • Manages a caseload involving any or all of the program’s services, which will include, individual, family, couple and group treatment modalities as well as mental health consultation and training.
  • Within the context of critical thinking, learn to gather and analyze data; complete assessments and formulate treatment plans; and implement specified treatment for routine cases. Begin to develop skills to manage complex cases.
  • Develops beginning capacity to accurately articulate facts, distill information and summarize using basic clinical language.
  • Formulates understanding of clients’ situations, providing appropriate services with supervisory consultation.

Administrative

  • With supervision, learns the policies and procedures of the agency and program.
  • Performs record keeping functions and other administrative duties as required by the Agency, including written treatment documentation that is compliant according to program and regulatory requirements within the required time frames.
  • Maintain assigned caseload based on identified service hours per week.

    Program Support

    • Actively participates in weekly group supervision and monthly individual supervision.
    • Participates in agency required trainings.
    • Collaborates with other agency personnel, supervisor, appropriate specialists or consultants on specific case related problems.
    • Represent JCFS and its programs in a positive manner to both internal and external contacts.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage & Family Therapy from an accredited institution.
    • Able to work evenings to support client and/or program needs
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
    • As this position requires visits to locations which may or may not be accessible by public transportation, must be able to drive, have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle to travel in the Chicago metropolitan area.
