Camp Sisol at the JCC is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and compassionate individuals to join our 2025 summer team. As a Counselor or Head Counselor, you’ll help create an engaging, safe, and supportive camp experience for children in grades K–10. Camp staff lead group activities, promote social-emotional learning, and serve as role models throughout the camp day.

Summer is short and goes by quickly so we are looking for individuals that can commit to working for the full summer session.

Dates: June 30 – August 29, 2025

Camp Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM

Staff Training: Dates to be announced in June 2025

Pay Rate: Weekly stipend of $520–$615 based on position and experience

Training Pay: $300 for three-day paid training

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage with campers in daily camp activities
• Build positive relationships and foster a sense of community within your group
• Promote and maintain physical and emotional safety for all campers
• Lead or assist with swim time, games, art, sports, nature, and special events
• Help manage group transitions, behavior, and participation
• Collaborate with fellow staff and specialists to support camp programming
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of camp spaces and materials
• Communicate clearly with campers, staff, and families as needed
• Attend and actively participate in all required training and staff meetings
• Follow all camp policies, procedures, and health/safety protocols

Additional Responsibilities for Head Counselors

• Oversee the daily functioning of a camper group
• Mentor and support assigned counselors
• Act as the lead point of contact for camper needs, parent communication, and group behavior
• Work closely with camp leadership on schedules, planning, and camper care

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old for Head Counselors (Counselors must be 16+)
• Experience working with children preferred
• Positive, patient, and team-oriented attitude
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training available)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to actively participate in outdoor activities and supervise in various settings
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and 10–15 lbs regularly
• Able to kneel, squat, sit on the ground, and stand for extended periods
• Comfortable swimming and engaging in physical play
