POSITION SUMMARY:

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh (JCC) seeks an experienced, innovative, and relationship-driven Out-of-School Time Program Manager to lead a dynamic portfolio of youth development initiatives that engage children and families in high-quality, inclusive, and enriching experiences throughout the year. This role provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and programmatic vision for the JCC's out-of-school time offerings, including Clubhouse Afterschool, JDays School Days Out, and JCC Specialty Camps.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develops and implements short- and long-range out-of-school time program goals in keeping with the mission and operating goals of the agency.
  • Develops and implements annual goals, program plans, and growth strategies aligned with JCC priorities.
  • Monitors emerging trends to enhance program offerings and participant experiences.
  • Fosters an environment where children feel safe, supported, connected, and empowered to grow.
  • Stays current on best practices in Positive Behavior Support and universal design principles to create inclusive program environments that support children with diverse abilities, needs and learning styles.

Direct Program Supervision:

  • Manages and develops current and new out-of-school time programs and services for children, youth, and families, including the Clubhouse Afterschool Program, JDays and Specialty Camps.
  • Partners with JCC personnel in multiple departments to create, coordinate, and implement afterschool activities such as sports, dance, swimming, and art.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains program staff (year-round and seasonal).
  • Provides staff with regular feedback on performance.
  • Implements program evaluation systems and maintains a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Facilitates regular staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develops and monitors program budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility and meeting budgetary goals.
  • Assists with development and execution of marketing and recruitment plans.

Family and Community Engagement:

  • Builds strong relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and schools.
  • Addresses parent concerns and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborates with community organizations and youth-serving agencies to strengthen partnerships and expand program reach.

Operations and Risk Management:

  • Works with JCC registrar to coordinate and execute registration for all out-of-school time programs and Specialty Camps.
  • Negotiates service contracts with a variety of service and transportation vendors.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable licensing requirements, safety regulations, JCC policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Liaises with local regulating agencies.
  • Manages program resources, facilities usage, and equipment needs.

  • Possesses a working knowledge of Jewish traditions, practices and culture.
  • Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery.
  • Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Ability to travel, as needed.
  • Ability to perform other related duties, as needed and/or required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building. This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing. This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Supervises part-time and seasonal personnel

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision from Director of Programming & Recreation, CYF

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, or related field and at least three years’

experience in an administrative capacity, or equivalent combination and experience.

PA Criminal History Clearance PA Child Abuse Clearance FBI Clearance

PA Mandated Reporter Training

National Sex Offenders Registry Clearance

Out of State Clearances, as applicable

First Aid/CPR Certification

Current physical examination report from a certified physician and an up-to-date TB vaccination
