Are you passionate about working with children and inspiring creativity? Join our One-Week Camps team as a General Counselor and support a variety of exciting programs: Global Gourmet, Lights, Camera, Action!, and Creative Fusion. In this role, you'll assist campers as they explore the worlds of cooking, filmmaking/on-camera acting, and creative arts, helping to create a fun, safe, and engaging experience. This is a temporary role, July 21-August 4 and pay is commensurate with experience. The Jewish Community Center of Dallas is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing daily activities and schedules for all three camp themes, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.
- Support campers in hands-on projects, whether it’s preparing a meal, performing on camera, or creating art.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive camp environment, encouraging teamwork and creativity.
- Supervise and ensure the safety, well-being, and happiness of campers at all times.
- Actively participate in large and small group activities, helping to lead when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with camp Specialists to execute the week’s programming.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to camper behavior issues and conflicts.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting is preferred.
- Interest or background in cooking, acting, filmmaking, or creative arts is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to various activities and work with a diverse group of campers and staff.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Energetic, dependable, and eager to create a positive experience for campers.
Schedule: General Counselors will work across three unique camp experiences during the summer. Training will prepare you for the variety of activities and themes, making this a dynamic and rewarding role.
