Full job description
The Cook and Catering Lead reports directly to the Food Service Director and is responsible for managing orders including food prep, cooking, and fulfillment of said orders. This person will be part of growing the catering business. This is a Full-time position and is classified as Non-Exempt. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages, plans and organizes catering orders
- Preps, cooks and fulfils orders
- Baking and pizza making
- Staffs catering events and catering pickup orders
- Requires working on Sunday’s and occasional evenings
- Assists with growing the catering business
- Adheres to standard operating procedures for food quality and food handling
- Keeps Registered Food Manager’s certificate current
- Performs other duties as assigned by Food Service Director
EDUACTION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5years of food prep, cooking and catering experience in a commercial kitchen or restaurant setting
- Highly organized, detailed oriented, planning and time management skills
- Able and willing to take direction
- Demonstrates an energetic and positive attitude
- Reliable, dependable, team player
- Ability tolift50 lbs. and carry items while walking
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Professional in appearance, manner and tone.
- A team player who possesses the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
It is expected that the Cook & Catering Lead will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
